Great Features But It's All Lipstick.

This countertop microwave was installed in an island so came with a trim kit. The trim kit is so poorly thought out that heat and humidity was retained in the electronics of the microwave and it rusted out. It did not blow out the moisture properly. Long story short, the microwave stopped working, but since the hole in the island was custom made, I had to replace it with an identical microwave. Don't waste your money on any Cafe series appliance. They have nice lipstick but are built no better than GE's bottom on the line appliances.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poor Quality

We are very disappointed with the quality of the microwave. Shortly after 1 year we began losing segments of the display. After less than 3 years the unit magnetron died and the turntable died. We are having to replace the unit with a new one because it is almost as expensive to repair it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poor quality

This review is a common theme as all the other ones. High end Cafe purchase a couple of years back and now it’s rendered useless. Started with the display and now the turntable turns on its own and is starting to go down fast. I would love some help from ge since all my other appliances from ge seem to last

Buyers remorse! Worse very expensive microwave.

We remodeled our kitchen 2019 and purchased all Cafe appliances from our local appliance supplier. It broke less than 2 years of service. The entire control panel and display broke where many of the buttons don’t work and the ones that do still can turn on the unit. The numbers on screen are out of sorts and not legible. I wish I would have read the reviews before getting this very expensive unit.

Disappointed

For the money I spent on this microwave, I expected it to last more than two years. I haven’t haven’t replaced it because it stopped working during the pandemic and I couldn’t afford to replace such an expensive microwave. The numbers stopped working, the microwave doesn’t heat up. It’s set in my island basically sitting there looking nice, but completely useless. I’m not surprised they’re not even making this model anymore. If I could afford to replace it I would have a long time ago. I was still paying it off and it had already crapped out. So disappointed in GE!

GE Cafe' Microwave Stopped Heating

Same issue as other complaints with GE's microwaves. I had this microwave fixed during an extended warranty contract for several issues with the control panel. Now this built-in with trim kit just crapped out again and I have no warranty contract this time. First the turn-table stopped rotating and now it's not heating anything. Now I am trying to figure out how to replace the built in. Tried calling GE and could not get through as their phone system doesn't recognize my cell phone prompts! So disappointed in GE!

5 Repair Calls

Very disappointed in this microwave. Have had at least 5 repair calls on it. Control panel replaced twice and door switch replaced twice. Need to replace it and, of course, will have to purchase a new trim kit also.

We know the importance of an appliance operating as designed for a long period of time. However, it is not possible to determine the product failure rate, lifespan, life expectancy, or life cycle of an appliance. There are multiple variables involved such as frequency of use, type of use, location of appliance, care, and maintenance. The trim kits for our built-in microwaves are model-specific, so a new built-in microwave would require a new trim kit.
