I saw good reviews on this blower, so took a chance. It works better than expected. It appears to perform better than some gas blowers neighbors have. The only reason I took a point off dependability is because I only had it for one year and it's too soon to tell.
I have two large oaks, and it took me just a couple of hours to shred all the leaves and pack them into two contractor bags (without shedding, it used to be 10+ bags). Yes, it was a dusty job, but not a big problem with reasonable protection. Now, half a year later, those leaves turned into perfect mulch! I tried to use the blower too, but it caused way to much mess; having a medium size yard, it's easier for me to rake the leaves.
So far, I have used my blower to blow lawn clippings and other garden debris and it has performed very well. I particularly like the variable speed control, which is far better than my previous one that only had two speed settings. Have not yet used it as a vacuum, but anticipate it will perform as well. Changing the accessories from blower to vacuum is a bit cumbersome, as it is to drag an electric cord behind you, which tends to tangle. But the relative light weight is less fatiguing than comparable gas or battery blowers.
The only draw back to this product is that dry pickup quality is reduced after several uses. The air flow volume and speed is restricted by fine dust plugging up the pickup bag. The bag requires washing after several uses to maintain high volume air flow for good pickup capabilities.
I bought this blower vacuum to use mainly as a vacuum. I have a lot of trees in my back yard and it does an excellent job of vacuuming the leaves from our shrubs and ground cover. It grinds the leaves very nicely and they are easily disposed of from the collection bag. Very satisfied.
There's nothing to complain about with this blower/vac. It's powerful whether blowing or vacuuming. The speed control works well. One slight wish; a trigger in addition to the speed control would be nice for one-hand operation.
I have had three of this model blower over about 8 years. Each one has failed, somewhere within the housing. The latest, purchased late 2014, made it about 14 mos. before coming apart inside. Since it's under warranty, I didn't open the housing and inspect it, but it sounds like it's chewing itself up, as if a shaft or something gave way. It has about 20 hours of runtime, in short intervals and at various speeds. They all have had good treatment, full amperage provided, and so forth. I am reluctant to recommend this model based upon my experience, but do so based upon the other reviews: I may have just had a lemon with two of the three I had.
Pros: blower performance, toro's reputation
Cons: longevity and dependability, primary cord length
I would recommend this to a friend!

Your machine holds a two-year warranty and we would be happy to replace the machine at no charge to you. How are your machines used? If the blowers are used for heavy commercial use, you may see a failure sooner than you have expected. This machine is designed for standard homeowner and is not intended for a commercial application.
