The Ultra Blower is a Very Good Product Except for the Bag

I have been using my Ultra Blower for many years and have been quite happy with it except for the bag. (Note: the Ultra Blower has a metal impeller, the Super Blower has a plastic impeller - you don't want a plastic impeller.) Now I have gone through many bags, about one per year, because the zipper fails. If you complain about it, Toro will accuse you of dragging the bag. One other note, if you buy this blower and the bag fails, do not throw it away. You will need its plastic collar for a new bag - Toro seems to have stopped including them with the replacement bags.
I've had this Toro blower/vacuum for two years now. For the money it has no equal as far as I'm concerned. The steel impeller is a huge plus, don't buy any blower/vacuum without it. The overall durability of this unit is outstanding so far. Should the need arise for parts, Toro's website is hard to beat for quality replacement parts for your unit. This is an easy 5 stars.
Bought this because we were working with a large amount of leaves and wanted them shredded to use as compost on a garden. We would vacuum and shred. Emptying the bag was pretty easy. Just unzip the bag and shake. Everything worked well at first. The impeller shredded the leaves into fine pieces. After about 10 bags of leaves, we noticed that it wasn't shredding as well. The more we did, the worse it got, until the leaves were no longer being shredded at all. Checked everything starting with the impeller, which was fine. We finally figured out that the inlet in the top of the bag had been damaged. It appears that the bag is designed in such a way as to hold the leaves in the impeller area for a period of time to grind them up. Once that part of the bag is damaged, the leaves will just blow into the bag without shredding. If the bag is going to tear that easily, and if that tear affects the shredding ability, this unit is no good for us.
This is surely the best blower/vac on the market in this price range. The metal impeller does a great job of creating mulch from leafs. Easy to convert from vacuum to blower and collection bag is a great size.
I have not used it as a vacuum because I have too many acorns in my yard. The leaf blower is excellent in taking care of my leaf problem! I also like the power adjustment switch, I can turn the power down when blowing out from under my carport! Great blower for the price!
The motor stopped working while performing a basic function.

The motor totally stopped as I was using it as a blower to clear out the leaves from the eavestroughs. It was only the second time the blower/vacuum had been used.
The motor displayed the slowing down as it weakened and then totally stopped. Reconnecting the electrical cord had absolutely no effect and it could not be opened up for any inspection or maintenance.
Pros: none
Cons: poor reliability

To extend your motor life, please use a 100ft extension cord that has a 14 gauge or lower. If a higher gauge (less heavy-duty) cord is used the motor begins to “over-work” and may over-heat and/or lose power. Your unit has a two-year warranty for repairs/replacements. You can contact us at 1-888-384-9939 for help with the warranty process. Thank you.
This blower/vac is a good deal for an homeowner; it has enough power to blow leaves out of flower beds, and the vac has enough power to easily pick up leaves on a hard surface. It doesn't do well on pulling leaves out of shrubbery, but I can vac my gutter in no time at all. Best of all, it mulches leaves and small twigs very well. This is the second Toro blower/vac that I have purchased - after several years of use, the first one got to where it wouldn't turn off at the switch - I had to unplug it to get it to stop. Even so, I purchased another Toro because it gives great performance.
