We got this a week ago for a gift from a work event. Hooked it up super simple to do turned it on and it's perfect for what we needed in are home.

I just received this. I wasn't expecting the highest quality, but I'm pretty disappointed. Paired with my phone, at half volume on both the phone and speaker system with the bass turned all the way down, you get a lot of speaker slap from the sub. I assumed it would come with an aux cable, but it didn't.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
