Form Over Function: A Misstep for Peak Design

The Everyday Peak Design Case is a disappointment, primarily due to its handling of the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s capacitive button. Instead of integrating tactile buttons, the case merely provides a cutout, which is visible in the product images but far more problematic in real use than expected.
The absence of an actual button insert makes the capacitive button significantly less responsive, resulting in a frustrating and inconsistent user experience. For a case that’s otherwise well-crafted and aimed at enhancing daily functionality, this design choice feels like a glaring oversight.
While the case offers decent protection and a sleek aesthetic, the poor usability of such a crucial feature severely undermines its value. I regret purchasing this case and would caution others to think twice if they prioritize smooth interaction with their device.
Peak Design’s attention to quality is usually commendable, but this feels like a case of prioritizing form over function—and it doesn’t work.
This is a meticulously made case. It has precise tactile feedback for the buttons, the outside material is nice to touch. I had a PeakDesign case for iPhone 15 Pro (with a loop), this iteration is more refined. In other words, I like it very much and recommend it.
Bought this one for my new phone. I previously bought one for my old phone and absolutely loved it! Sturdy, looks great, great material. I’ll never get any other brand
I bought this for my replacement phone based on my experience with the previous phone cover. Perfect fit with all the new buttons easily accessible. Lightweight on natural feel of woven back making it easier to hold…
I first purchased a Peak Design case for my iPhone 15 Pro Max about a year and I loved it. I purchased one for my 16 Pro Max as well and while I love the vegan leather, I really wish there was a camera control button cover like the OG Apple cases have. While I know the control button is more than a just a button (with it being touch sensitive for additional controls) it just feels odd to have a whole button exposed. I would absolutely purchase if PD rereleased with a button cover for the camera control.
I’m a loyal PD/Nomad phone case user. But this new case is beautifully designed. Easy to use and feels great to use. Very impressed. It works with all my PD accessories.
Bought this case and hate it for iPhone 16 launch day. Waited to comment on it - it’s about what I expect from Peak Design, however the lack of a camera button and no plans to add one make it very disappointing.
Brought vegan leather version for iPhone 16 Pro. Overall an excellent case, with strong magnets. I like the integration with the rest of the peak kit. The one area for improvement is the camera button. It is accomplished with a cutout instead of a capacitance button. The cutout is a bit awkward to use/access.
