The case feels so premium! Top quality materials with top quality fit and finish!!! This case is somehow super protective while not feeling overly thick or cumbersome. They kind of nailed this case!!
Stoked with how good this case is. I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews, especially around the build quality and the lip on the front for protection. My experience is that this is pretty much the perfect case. I would have just liked a wallet stand that is colour coded, ah well I’ll just make use of my old one.
After contacting the support team they told me that the new generation of GNAR cases would be much better in fitment and protection of the screen. Even with a screen protector. I got my GNAR case today and I’m loving it! Thanks peakdesign to listen to your customers and adapt to their needs. Great work!
I have the PD ecosystem for my motorcycles and cars, and I couldn't be happier that the 17 Pro Max case would allow me to use my new phone with all the other stuff I had. Its a great case! Very happy with it
Nice finish and design (simple yet very functional). Feels good in hand and work as you'd expect. Access to buttons are simple enough and work. Not to sensitive so they dont go off unexpectedly. Use it with a screen protector and is flush
I had really high hopes for this case. The description swayed me by promising a case that would match my rugged lifestyle. It looked and felt rugged enough, but unfortunately didn’t perform as such when dropped while walking from a 4ft height. Full transparency, I was on a smooth stone tiled surface, but the thick corners of the case that should have covered my phone were chewed up like a gummy bear, resulting in damage to the metal bevel of my phone. Fortunately I did have a screen protector which shattered surprisingly on 3/4 of the corners as well. Guess it could have been worse and I understand that all variables involved with drops are impossible to account for, but at such a low height and movement speed I’m surprised at the amount of damage to the actual phone. The description made me feel as if the case was designed for avid outdoor sports enthusiasts like myself who are more inclined to throw caution to the wind. Unfortunately I never was able to get “down to clown” with my case as advertised. Womp womp…
This case has not been available since October 2025. I waited this long, hoping they would iron out some issues that were mentioned in the previous reviews. Looks like they did. The case is sturdy —even sturdier than my old nomad/Peak Design case. Combined with Peak Design’s excellent cuff, it’s a much much more secure way to tote an iPhone and be ready for photos. This means I can have my iPhone on my wrist and my DSLR on a strap around my neck.
I don't like this case quite as much as the one I had for my iPhone 16 Pro. They took the little finger strap off the back and I really miss the option to loop a finger through for safety while taking photos and video. I see on the website there is a product coming that is more like a strappy wrist cuff, but it isn't available yet. Overall, the case is sturdy and really nice. The materials are smooth and it is well built. I have already dropped my phone several times, face down, and no troubles. I see people complaining about the fact that it lacks a deeper rim around the face like the older cases, but I really haven't found this to be an issue at all. I do have trouble with the small rubber (or perhaps silicone) plus that covers the charger port. It takes some real shoving to make it fit in completely flush. Then when you do get it to fit correctly, it's a pain to get it back out. So that and the lack of a finger cuff on back are the only reasons I am not giving it 5 stars.
