This does make popcorn. However, I have to tilt it back while the kernels or heating up, or the kernels fly out. I've tried using more kernels, less kernels, this is the only way to use the machine without hot kernels popping out at you. Once it starts to pop, I put the machine down, level on the counter. The other major flaw is the clear top portion. The plastic tabs have bent because they are flimsy and weak. I assume any day now they will break and I won't be able to use this machine :(
I do like the popcorn maker as it makes good popcorn and the kernels come out larger than when I've made popcorn using other means. However, the device is loud although only for the time it is popping. In addition, I find that some of the kernels aren't popped at the end. The machine is a bit messy in that there are tiny pieces of the kernel that fly onto my countertop and stick to the popper. The popcorn tastes very good so I am overlooking these negatives.
