[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've owned this machine for about a month now. We moved from an 11 year old Delonghi Gran Dama (still going strong). Definitely a step up in terms of capabilities even though the Gran Dama was top of the line at the time. This machine is very well thought out & easy to use. More importantly, it makes really good coffee! We mainly make Americano and espresso but it does a great job with milk-based drinks (including non-dairy products like almond milk). We looked at the Delonghi Eletta Explore as well as the Gaggia Accademia before settling on the KitchenAid KF8. This machine is a bit more expensive than the Eletta but is significantly more configurable. Highly recommended. KitchenAid has a winner with this machine.
Cons: 1) This machine uses a lot of water for cleaning and rinsing so you have to empty the drain and fill water every 6-7 drinks. We use a cup to catch the pre & post-rinsing from the nozzles, but there is still some internal cleaning that goes into the drain. However it does have a large 2.2 liter water container so you might get a few more drinks between fill-ups depending on how many drinks you make at a time. 2) It is a bit concerning that a machine of this caliber (and price point) does not have WiFi connectivity. We are not huge fans of smartphone apps for appliances, but the ability to update the firmware regularly over the air would have been a big plus. Even our cars upgrade themselves over the air these days. Neither con is a showstopper though.
My bad for not reading the return policy better, but you can't simply return this for a refund if you use it at all. Which is crazy, considering how would you know you'd want to return it if you don't try it first? Milk drinks don't come out hot. And the latte setting doesn't have any foam at all. If you want to pay this money for a machine and have to either heat your milk prior or heat your finished drink, then you would be fine with this machine. Customer service told me it's designed to only be 120-125 degrees for milk drinks, which isn't hot at all? Very strange. It's also bitter shots no matter how I change the grind settings/strength. You have to hit a button 5 times to walk you through cleaning the milk unit, every time you use it. It's also not designed to have software updates, so what you have is what you get forever (vs other machines). The latter of those are small inconveniences, which I'd happily deal with and get used to if the drinks were hot enough. I just don't see the point in paying this much for a machine that still requires me to heat up my drink manually when it's done. Other reviews state this as well, so do your research before buying.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you’re on the fence about purchasing a super automatic and you’re considering the KF8, just do it! We couldn’t be more pleased with it. If you want a simple-to-operate machine that’s superbly built, then this is for you. The drinks are easy to dial in and they taste SO GOOD.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I first started looking for our first fully automatic coffee machine. I had very specific needs. 1. It had to have the ability to switch between decaf and regular coffee 2. It needed to have the ability to use both plant based and regular milk and 3. It needed the ability to steam milk only. The KF8 fit all that and with the best value. Having a sleek design and the large touch screen were an added bonus as well. We are a month in with our machine and we are still very happy with it.
I recieved my KF8 on Jan 23rd and have made so many different drinks without a single disappointment! Upon unboxing, I followed the steps to prepare the machine, with exception to making the 4-5 "prep" espressos, i just jumped right on in. My first cup was worlds apart than any Nespresso, Keurig, or any other machine out there! So tasty! I have already set my favorites in my profile and start my day with a latte macchiato, then make a double espresso for an iced coffee on the go. I noticed some reviews state that the temperature does not get warm enough, but they must have had a defective machine or didnt change the temp in the profile, as mine brews hot! While the machine is pricy, it is absolutely worth every penny! I do not regret my decision to grab this one!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought to replace a Jura that failed after 2 years. Couldn’t be happier. Great americanos and expresso drinks.
