[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using the ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 (16") for several weeks now, and it has exceeded my expectations in nearly every aspect. As someone who primarily works in data science, I rely heavily on performance, speed, and reliability—and this machine delivers.
First, the build quality is excellent. It feels premium and solid yet surprisingly lightweight for a mobile workstation of this caliber. The 16" screen provides ample workspace with impressive resolution and color accuracy, making it comfortable for extended work sessions, especially when dealing with complex data visualizations or coding environments.
Performance-wise, the P1 Gen 7 handles intensive tasks with ease. My data models are processing significantly faster compared to my previous laptop, which has already improved my workflow and productivity. The combination of a powerful Intel processor, fast SSD, and generous RAM makes multitasking smooth—even when running resource-intensive applications like R, Python, or large-scale simulations.
Thermals and noise levels are also well-managed. The fans kick in when needed but remain relatively quiet, and the laptop stays cool under pressure, which is impressive given its slim profile.
So far, I have encountered no issues or limitations. The keyboard and trackpad are comfortable and responsive, and the battery life is reasonable considering the performance this machine offers.
Overall, I highly recommend the ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 for professionals who need a balance of power, portability, and reliability. It's a solid investment for data science, engineering, or any demanding workflow.

Is really more of a mobile workstation than an ultrabook (good, that's what I bought it for) but it's the sleekest, lightest workstation I've ever had. I worry slightly about whether it will be as durable and repairable as previous thinkpads--I have been using thinkpads since 2015 and I'm definitely hard on my machines--but it's certainly lighting fast and extremely comfortable to use. Do get a laptop cooling pad if you intend to use it in the lap, though, it can run pretty hot--not remotely surprising given the power under the hood!

Only thing which could be better is cooling since it does make decent sound after a while of performing applications and couple of better outputs (enough for regular use but all USB-C could have been thunderbolt)
