Absolutely amazing machine no gas no oil just drop your batteries in and off you go i give this a 4 out of five stars my only complaint is battery life after the first mow I noticed battery life decreased if you have a large area to cover might want to invest in extra batteries other than that it's perfect

First cut was great. Second time using it died

Picked this up about a month ago. Cut the grass 2 times about .25 acre yard and first time cut the whole yard. Second time the batteries died about 3/4 the way through.
Only takes about a half hour to cut the whole yard. Not sure if i got old/defective batteries. Going to have to see how their customer service is. Will update with results.

Hello Jersey paul,

We are sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with the run time of this battery. The run time varies depending on the tool that it is being used in but also the load acting against the unit while in use.

For best results users should:
1) Mow when the grass is dry.
2) Mow in the morning or late afternoon to reduce the heat stress on the newly cut grass.
3) Alternate mowing patterns each time you mow. As grass develops a grain based on your cutting direction it will lean towards the direction of your mowing path. Changing the pattern allows better vertical growth and helps to keep the cut neater.
4) Consider mulching. To mulch, remove the bag and insert the mulch plug into the rear of the unit. This will leave the clippings on the lawn allowing the nutrients and nitrogen contained within them to return to the soil and allow the remaining grass to recycle them (always discharge the mulch towards a previously cut area to prevent your mower from bogging down).
5) Always keep in mind what conditions your variety of grass prefers. If your grass prefers cooler climates, reduce the frequency with which you mow and increase the cutting height of your mower during hot seasons to compensate for the reduced growth rate these varieties may experience in this type of weather.

We would be happy to investigate to see whether your run time would be considered average; please kindly contact by phone at 1-888-909-6757.

Good drill short battery life

The drill is great but the mower leaves something to be desired. The battery life is short and has trouble with higher grass/weeds.

Hello DavidD,

Thank you for your feedback. Happy to hear you are enjoying the drill! However, sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with the run time of this battery when used in this lawn mower.
It is important to adjust your mowing techniques to make the most out of the battery life but it goes without saying that that the harder the unit works, the quicker the battery drains.
Here are a few mowing tips to help achieve the optimal run time.
1) When cutting thick grass, reduce walking speed in order to allow for a more effective cut and a proper discharge of the clippings.
2) Only mow 1/3 of the total grass length at a time - no more. For a healthy lawn, always cut off one-third or less of the total length of the grass. The average lawn should be approximately 1 1/2 to 2” (3.8 to 5 cm) long during cool months, and between 2" to 3 1/4" (5 cm to 8.3 cm) long during hot months.
3) Mow when the grass is dry. As this is an electric unit, mowing wet/damp grass is a safety issue. However, ensuring the grass is dry will also help the grass cut cleanly and discharge appropriately. Wet/damp grass carries more weight and will mostly stick to the blade/motor shaft and will not appropriately discharge or cut easily.
4) Make sure the battery is cool before use. When the battery will not be in use, we suggest storing it indoors, in a cool dry area - away from direct sunlight. Leave the charger unplugged and the battery disconnected from the charger unless it needs charging.
We hope these tips will help! If not, we would be happy to investigate to see whether your run time would be considered average; please contact Greenworks at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). All we ask that you have access to the unit so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information.

Hello Sbroomall28,

We are so sorry to learn that this lawn mower did not meet your needs, and that you felt throwing it out was your best option! Had you contacted our Customer Care, they would have been more than happy to assist with the warranty claims process. If you are still in possession of the batteries here are a few troubleshooting suggestions to check out.
1) When the battery is inserted, the light should begin flashing green to indicate the battery is charging. If this light is not igniting or is flashing red, this may indicate an issue and we would be interested in hearing more about this. If the light simply goes solid red, try removing the battery and unplugging the charger for about 10 minutes and place them both indoors in a room temperature setting, as this might indicate the battery is at the incorrect temperature to be charged.
2) Ensure that the battery has been fully inserted into the charger. Sometimes this requires a firm push into place to make sure that it has been properly seated.
3) Try resetting the charger. To do this, simply unplug it for approximately 10 minutes and then plug it back in and try reinserting the battery. If the charger has been plugged in for extended periods of time, this can sometimes cause the charger to malfunction.
As it is, we genuinely hope that this experience does not turn you away from Greenworks for good we would like to hear more about your experience to see how we can do better in the future. Please give our Customer Care team a call at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). Thank you for your feedback!
