One of my biggest gripes about maintaining a beard is the mess it creates. When I saw "vacuum" on this one I really wanted to try it out, but there were a couple bad reviews about how the vacuum worked. Well, if you're looking for a mess-proof solution, maybe you need to find a way to mount a Dyson to your shirt collar. This isn't mess-proof, but it's the next best thing to it. It catches 95% of the hair trimmings so there is significantly less mess.
There is a trick to it though. Because I was used to my old trimmer, I didn't think about the design on this one yet and my first experience using it resulted in a less-than-even trim. The vacuum inlet is mount just in front of the trimming blades. If you tip the trimmer toward your face you can end up with some areas shorter than otheers. However, if you keep the flat side behind the trimming blades flat to your face, then it trims wonderfully.
Then there's the party piece - this trimmer is really powerful. I have a very thick beard and generally joke about mowing my face. This thing doesn't even flinch. And that's before you activate the faster more powerful "turbo" setting.
Yeah, I would definitely recommend this trimmer to anyone looking to make the girlfriend happier with a bit less mess.
Pros: powerful, lots less mess, works corded/cordless, easy to clean
Cons: a touch more sensitive to blade angle
I would recommend this to a friend!

This was a replacement for a competitor's product that lasted for over ten years. It is a definite upgrade. Thedesign is not ergometrically ideal but functional. The blade height adjustment is somewhat stiff but manageable. All in all, worth the higher price.
I bought this to replace a T980 i had for years and loved. I am very disappointed that there is no mustache trimmer on the Beardtrimmer 7300.
Pros: improved design
Cons: no mustache trimmer
I would recommend this to a friend!

Terrible desgin with the Contour following comb

Contour following comb on the 7300 is terrible compared to the older 7100 series. The older 7100 adjustable Contour following comb floats with your beard. While the 7300 does not have the "curved" top edges needed to make the adjustable top unit float. Therefore it is not consistent trim and it will make your beard look chopped up. Not worth the buy. Purchase the older 7100 unit.

Use Part #asparagusrubberband
on April 22, 2014

Excellent trimmer - well designed - adaptable to all manner of trimming - easy to use ------ except for that durn trim-chamber-door clip continually breaking off sending clippings all over the sink and up my nose. So, I stole a broad, purple rubber band from a batch of asparagus and it fit perfectly around the door chamber thus keeping those around me from inhaling beard trimmings. Philips, please add this part to your service manual.

I've had two of these now, and each one had a broken latch after 6-8 months. It makes operation very difficult and results in trimmings going everywhere. Otherwise, it is a great trimmer.
Pros: good design, great battery life
Cons: low quality parts, plastic breaks
