Horrible design

The adjustable shave guide is amazingly poorly designed. When the shaver is held at the wrong angle, the blades go directly to the skin, shaving off everything instead of just to the selected height.
Look at the picture of the shave head, and make sure not to buy any products that have the same issue.

I had the previous version without the vacuum for a decade - never had an issue with it & it worked great until I lost the charger and Philips no longer makes the older style chargers so I had to buy a new beard trimmer.
The vacuum feature is good & it does make clean up much better - BUT the vacuum requires that the blades be set back to give room for the vacuum portion. This results in a sub optimal shaving experience. I found with the old non-vacuum trimmer I could do my entire beard in a few swipes, and the cut was clean & consistent.
With the new vacuum model I spend 4 X more time trimming my beard. That is, the clippers do not do a good/consistent cutting job - I end up having to go over the same area 3-4 X just to get the same cut that the old one used to give.
In particular, if your beard has grown long and you need to trim a lot of hair - more than a 1/4 inch....the new vacuum trimmer is terrible. The longer the cut you're attempting, the more time you will waste going over and over the same area - and the vacuum will fill up quickly, rendering it sort of useless unless you stop & empty.
I used to let my beard grow very long & trim it every 2-3 weeks....now in order to not be inconvenienced I end up trimming it every 4-5 days so that the hair is optimal for the new vacuum style trimmers.
The vacuum does work. but truthfully, cleaning/wiping the sink to remove my beard trimmings was not "that awful" so as to necessitate a "solution" that actually renders the product, in my opinion, inferior to the previous generations bear trimmers.
Cons: not nearly as effective as older models
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I recently purchased this unit to replace an older Philips unit. I’m glad I held on to my smaller clipper attachment since it fits on this new one and is better at trimming around ears and mustache (perhaps this unit should have shipped with a smaller blade as well). Overall I am enjoying the new unit…battery life between charges is much better and I like the way the unit provides a visual of the trim length. I had read poor reviews on the swinging door for stubble removal but I’ve had no issue with it.
Pros: great battery life between charges, great visual on trim length
Cons: lack of a small trimmer attachment
I would recommend this to a friend!

Overall, they hit the mark with this version. The vacuum collection system works well and the integrated length feature is great. The battery life is very good as well. Just one small annoyance... the lowest setting doesn't buzz my head hair down low enough. I wish there was a setting for <1mm.

I had the older version of this trimmer previously and battery would no longer hold a charge after over 5 years of use (would have kept old if I could have run while plugged in). Decided to get a new one seeing as I had great luck with the old. New one is nice with the digital display of the blade length and telling me the battery life. The vacuum is no where near as good as the old. Even with the turbo boost button on I still find clippings in my bathroom sink after done trimming. With my old one I never had that issue prior to using the turbo vac. Other than the vacuum I'm impressed with this trimmer but the vacuum is HORRIBLE on this model.
Pros: digital display
Cons: power of vacuum

Product is very good overall with a few downsides

Really like the product but if your trimming anything longer than a short beard it leaves alot of hair around the sink.
Also the stubble function does not give a great trim in my opinion.
Pros: ease of use, adjustable settings
Cons: suction is not good for longer hair, stubble function isn't great

Great product and update to older model

I have had the earlier model for many years and while it continued to perform good, the battery (alkaline) would not hold a charge for very long. the new model has the lithium ion battery and is much more dependable. I am very satisfied with the new trimmer

I purchased this beard trimmer to replace one of the same type by a different brand. I wish I had this one all along. It is easy to hold onto while using, the digital readout of the length setting and battery charge is very helpful. It's easy to clean and it only takes 1 hour to fully recharge. I would highly recommend this product.
Pros: easy to use, easy to clean, quick charging
Cons: doesn't have a flat base to stand up on it's own
