Horrible distortion

I’m so disappointed. Took this Xtreme 5 to the pool and the distortion was horrible. I’m so disappointed. I was no where near Max volume!!

Thanks for your feedback. We are sorry to hear you experienced such bad distortion with our JBL Xtreme 5. Source devices (phones, tablets, etc.) all behave a bit differently. Some have very loud outputs, and some can be quite a bit lower, even at maximum volumes. The same goes for individual songs, some are louder than others. It is possible that the output level of your source device or song causes the unit to reach maximum undistorted volume before actually reaching 100% on the volume control. So, if the issue only occurs when the volume is getting near to maximum, this would confirm that the issue is the result of an extremely loud source device or song recording. On the other hand, if you are using an Equalizer (EQ) to boost frequencies, this has the same effect as increasing the volume. Try turning the EQ off. If the sound no longer distorts with the EQ off, the speaker is not damaged and the EQ settings need to be adjusted to prevent distortion and eventual damage. Subwoofer?! Inside an xtreme series speaker??

JBL, how did you manage to fit a subwoofer in here. Also my boombox 3 has about the exact same frequency response range. I have an xtreme 3 and i probably won’t upgrade because it seems like this speaker is not backward compatible with partyboost speakers. All of my speakers have partyboost. Interesting speaker but you really need to make all auracast speakers backward compatible. If the xtreme 4 can be so can this.

Great looking and awesome light show!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The set up is easy and straightforward the controls are simple to press the design is sleek and the sound is amazing even at high volume the bass the extreme 5 produces feels party box level pro quality sound it gets loud enough for your patio& everywhere the treble is very nice and clear this speaker hits all the important low/mid/highs.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I still have a JBL party box on the go and comparing this to that it’s actually pretty good. I can’t say it’s as good as the party box as far as sound quality and loudness but it makes up for it in other features, this charges a lot faster with the fast charger they include and it’s a lot lighter and more portable than the party box which is bulkier and heavier. The controls are really simple with only six buttons so it’s really straight forward. The things that makes this so good is the ruggedness of it, being able to drop water on it or taking to the beach and not worry about sand damaging it is the most amazing thing about this speaker.

Such a great speaker!!

The sound the bass and the durability are features i always check off when using a speaker! I am a content creator and the sound this provides is phenomenal. The one and only downside is that it is a bit heavy.

JBL Xtreme 5 is Extremely Satisfying

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A phenomenal portable speaker by JBL. The bass and bass boost along with the sound quality of this lightweight portable speaker makes it our go to for our outdoor adventures. It is waterproof and dustproof so we take this on our paddleboards. Makes for a great time. The speaker box case has has some rubberized protective areas and the strap is heavy duty. The strap clips are made out of steel, no worry about them breaking when transporting the Xtreme 5.
It stays charged for roughly 25 hours and if you plug it in for 10 minutes you'll get 2 hours of music. The ambient light around the bottom and top of the speaker box is a nice elegant touch.
Connecting to my Android phone was instantaneous. We also connected a JBL Mic Mini to the speaker box and it was cristal clear. Karaoke is way better in this box with the Mic Mini. Our granddaughters loved it.
The JBL Xtreme has all the right stuff for our lifestyle. The most important features to us was the phenomenal sound quality (adjustable through the JBL App), portability, and waterproof.
