Prints Are Uncommonly Sharp

Have had the GX1020 for about a year now. Exceptional print quality and ink capacity. In use daily, but mostly for crossword puzzles - text and grid sharp enough to shave with! But you do have to use the color inks every so often. The yellow has needed a bunch of deep cleanings to clear. Scanning and copying are faultless. Don't print many photos, but those I have printed came out just fine. This printer makes the usual clicks and gurgles as and after printing. Also it is not tall and doesn't block my window view of outside.

To replace my 6020, I liked the large color screen 1020. Easy out of the box. BUT I encountered issues when connecting to my wireless router. My computer got the error 526 and my phone was directed to open a credit card account. I used an ethernet cord and wired the 1020 setup. The 1020 functions great. YES I happily bought the 1020 and I am happy to use it wired—-thumb up. BUT I CANNOT RECOMMEND this product. The canon setup connections for the 1020 out of the box are geared more toward canon business applications and connectivity than printing which lead me and I bet will lead others to needless problems—thumb down.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I replaced my Canon TS6420 w/ this GX1020. I absolutely hated the door panel feature on the TS model. If I was in the shop & wanted to print something out, I had to come in & make sure that door was up. The jury is still out on this printer but so far I love everything on it, almost.
It takes a little bit long to start printing, but once it starts it's blazing fast. A little louder than I like but so far so good!

Horrible wireless communcation

I bought this printer a month ago and I still regret my decision. The only way it will print is to connect via USB. Wireless printing in non-functional. Followed the instructions twice; same result. Printer is on the wireless network. Laptop is on the wireless network. Canon software is enabled in firewall permissions. STILL NO WIRELESS COMMUNICATION! Save yourself hours of aggravation and try anything else!

I have been very pleased with my new Canon Mega Tank Maxify GX1020 printer. It was easy to set up and get connected to a new computer I purchased. I like that the 4 ink bottles have different necks on them so they can't be used in the wrong tank. The software was easy to download and once I had the printer specifics set right it works very well. The print is very clear and concise and the colors look great.

Just what I wanted

We needed to replace an inkjet printer but I couldn't find anything that would fit into the small space of the old printer that just printed. So I started researching all in one printers but most of them were too big and/or had pretty bad reviews, until I found the Canon Maxify GX1020 supertank printer. It fit into the small space and had pretty decent reviews. It arrived today and even though it doesn't come with much of any setup instructions I quickly figured out that they really weren't needed. Once I plugged it in the screen showed me step by step what to do and once I had installed the print heads and filled the ink I was ready to connect to the computer. We just wanted a USB connection and no wireless needed-Keep it simple. I downloaded the drivers, plugged in the USB cable and everything worked just as it should. I have only printed a couple of pages so I don't know if I will be less happy as time goes on but at the moment it is a great printer. One of the best parts is that it has a real honest to goodness paper tray that is easy to load, unlike the other (brand withheld) printers we have which have a very flimsy paper tray that is a royal pain to fill. It was also easy to fill the ink and since you can see the level there won't be any problem witih getting half way thru a print job and running out of ink. Picture colors on plain paper were pretty good so I'm sure they would be excellent on photo paper.
