I finally am moving on from my Canon 300 2.8 (version 1) lens. The EF lens had a great life, but now with the added focal range and half the weight, wow! The lens is already earning it's keep shooting racing and concerts. Can't wait to use it for football and golf later this summer/fall. *Kristeen at Canon was so helpful with the purchase process.

Focal length is so versatile for any kind of sports photography. Lightweight and easy to handhold or use on a monopod. Helps capture the “in-betweeners” I used to miss.

The missing Link.

I rented 2 of these lenses for a recent shoot with Cirque du Soleil. They performed phenomenally! Usually we are limited to our 24-70 and 70-200 2.8 lenses...and rarely will bring along a 300mm 2.8 beast. However, this lens proved to be the missing link with what we've needed for years! Along with the new 24-105 2.8 RF lenses this was an AMAZING shoot! Thanks Canon! You read my mind.

I love the versatile of this lens. I shoot college basketball, gymnastics, and volleyball with it and have loved the sharpness and fast focusing.

Ideal for Indoor Sports

I mostly shoot indoor swimming and water polo, and this is my dream come true. I used to use a 300/2.8 and a 70-200/2.8 but would have to pass on great shots with the 300 on as being too tight. Other shots would require a lot of cropping if I had the 70-200 on. The new 100-300 is simply perfect. The lens is well built but still light. Hand holding with an R5 is no problem. Thanks Canon!

I bought this lens on Sept 29, 2023. I bought it to use for sports and nature photography. so far i have only used it twice for nature photography. I'm completely satisfied with my purchase. Lens is quick and sharp!!! I'm currently using this lenses with my canon Eos R5 and Eos R3.
