Great Quality but Big Printer!

I was given the Canon imageCLASS MF289dw printer for FREE to complete this review! When I first received it I was overwhelmed by the box size and thought there was no way it would fit in my house. When I unboxed it, it was packed very securely with the styrofoam top and bottom packers. The user manual was very detailed, it also included a QR code to watch videos to set up the machine.
I did have difficulty setting it up, primarily due to user error and my Wi-Fi not connecting at first. The pages printed very clearly and quickly and did not jam up like my previous printer would. I like the energy saver feature, it would turn the printer off when it was idle for a certain period of time. I primarily would print by sending items from my iPhone to the printer and had no issues.
Overall, this is a great option if you have a home office and need black ink-printed items, you print a lot (it has the capacity), and you have a big enough space to store it since it is pretty big.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Canon sent me this printer to try out from home since I work from home a lot. It was an excellent printer. The only thing that I could have changed if I would have been able to is the size but I'm not really sure that that could have been changed seeing as this printer does so much. It's perfect for the office or home or if your home is your office

Love the scanner in the double side

I was sent a free sample to use for this review in by far it is the best printers my pictures out so well 10 out of 10 will recommend I would recommend everybody to buy special the business owners also the buttons are very clear in understanding to use special the scan for documents is really good over all I love this product so much !!!

Great for mini office

I received the image class mf284dw free for doing a review of it. It's a great fit for a home office, I didn't have a hard time at all setting it up to print. We have used our smartphones,tablets, laptops and computers to print off documents, pictures homework and all came out great.The copies made come out just like the original ones. The touch screen took me a minute to figure out because I have never had one like it
But was not hard to figure out. The two sided option was fast at printing. Prints fast and holdes alot of paper.

Overall great printer

I recently received a Canon MF289dw as part of a focus group to review. The printer arrived approximately three weeks ago. In that time, we had the opportunity to print quite a bit and over all I really like it.
I work in the tech industry and print a lot of circuit diagrams and rack drawings and such and my wife is a Kindergarten teacher and as a teacher she is always printing out new pages for her kids to color or help them learn their ABC’s etc. In the last 3 weeks we have printed about 540 pages using this printer and there are some things that I really like about it and there are a couple things I think could be improved.
First the things I like. The printer is fast especially compared to my ink jet printer. We can print out about 50 pages in a matter of a minute and a half or so or so. I think the specs say 35 pages a minute but I swear this one is faster.
The printer can do double sided printing and it barely slows it down. The software was easy to install on our PC, my wife’s Mac book air, my chrome book and both our iPhones. Since the printer is wireless I can print from my phone or any of those devices really quick. This is of course only in black and white. The copy and scan function works great with no issues and you can copy multiple pages very quickly. Pictures scanned to my computer where no problem and scanned quickly. The printer also holds a half a ream of paper so you can stick 250 pages in the bin which unless you are a kindergarten teacher will last you awhile.
Most of the functions are done either through the software or from a touch screen on the printer which I think is really nice. My inkject is menu driven and putting in things like passwords and such is a pain in the rear compared to the Canon.
In fairness, the printer is also a FAX but I don’t have a land line and haven’t sent a fax in a so long I can’t even remember it so I can not say one way or the other how that works.
Now for the things that I didn’t like so much.
This printer isn’t small. Its about 16x15x15 and from what I have seen from other similar sized laser printers, its loud in my opinion. It isn’t so loud that is obnoxious but it is louder than my inkjet printer. Also, once a page is printed it sits recessed in the device making it a little more difficult to grab your pages. If you google the printer and look at the picture, you will see what I mean. The last thing I would say is in looking up the cartridges for this printer you find two. One is the standard and supposed to do up to 1400 pages and the other is the high capacity and supposed to do up to around 4000 pages if I am not mistaken. The cartridge that came with mine I believe is the standard and I have printed out about 540 pages as I mentioned earlier and the printer says I’m down to 10%. I do not know if the cartridge I got is really the standard or some starter cartridge that has less capacity but something to think about.

Overall I really like this printer and it takes the strain of our inkjet printer which as I’m sure you probably know can be really expensive when you print the amount that we so. I would certainly recommend this to anyone.

I received this laser printer for free and I would say that I loved it! It was so straightforward when it came to installation. I'm a handy gal, but when it comes to tech products I want to ask someone else for help. With this printer I didn't have to. The install and setup was so easy and straightforward. If you are a small to mid size business owner, then this is right for you!

Overall, I loved this printer. It is very speedy. The pages printed clearly and it was generally easy to use. I liked the easy of copying pages and the compact design. It is simple to connect and customize. I should mention that I was sent a free sample to use for this review.
