JBL Bar 800 Review

Overall it's a great speaker and it's night & day improvement over the original TV speakers. I do wish there was more control or flexibility with the speaker system. The rear speakers do have a seperate volume control but I feel they need more to help balance out the sound in the room.

Beyond please even without using the separated speakers. Having to re-watch movies to experience the sound quality

No surround sound for anything but Dolby

While Dobly TrueHD plays exceptionally well, the soundbar is unable to play any DTS content and AAC content in 5.1 surround, which means the rear speakers will output all the sound including voices throughtout the film. A lot of content is in DTS and AAC so for that reason alone this soundbar is an absolute fail. I was fooled into buying this soundbar for 800 thinking at least it can play surroudn sound for PCM but it can't. Its a disaster.

Love the detacheble speakers

So i have had the Bar 800 for 2 weeks and must say am very impressed, deep deep base, nice treble and very impressive mids, its exceeded my expectations and then some, am particularly excited about detacheable speakers which i carry with me around the house. so yeah 5 stars from me

Decent but not the best surround sound

The sub and main bar work well, the two side units seem to not get as loud as I had hopes when placing them around the room.
