The little round mechanism that holds the tape in place is an improvement over previously manufactured mechanisms in desktop tape dispensers providing more tape stability. I didn't know of the improvement when I chose this model to replace a tape dispenser that had cracked after falling to a tiled floor. It was a pleasant surprise. The weighted bottom and rubber padding of this model do a good job keeping the dispenser from moving around. I can whole-heatedly endorse this product.
