Don't wash the cover!

I paid extra for the cooling cover. It smelled like chemicals from the manufacturer, so I washed it (cold water), but I didn't pay extra attention to the dryer settings. It shrunk and is unusable. What a waste.
First, let me say this is the most accurate review you will read. I feel the reviews are misleading because you read some that say this mattress topper is hard and some say it's too soft. Well, which one is it? The answer is they are both accurate to a point. I always believed the saying "Never judge a book by it's cover" and that's true in this case. Yes, when you first open it, it is hard. Don't let this fool you. Let it expand for at least 4-6 hours and yes, it will still feel hard, but once you lay on it the mattress pad forms to your body and feels softer. My husband likes a firm mattress while I like a soft one, so when we bought a new mattress we got a medium one and it was still too hard for me. I now sleep 100% better with this mattress pad because it forms to my body therefore, giving me the softer feel. Yes, it takes a little more effort to turn in bed because the mattress pad forms to your body but I personally don't mind if I get to sleep better the rest of the night. I think that's a fair trade off. Those that wrote a bad review about this product were wrong because it is not a bad product as I am proof that it is a great product for me. It was just the wrong product for them. You have to decide what your preferences are in a mattress pad and then choose one that suits you.
I made this purchase in my second trimester, just as things started to feel achy with my growing belly. I couldn't be happier! 13 weeks later and I'm sleeping through the night and waking up without feeling stiff.
I bought this because my sister has one in her guest room and when I slept on it for 4 nights, it was great! When I received mine, first, it's not quite 3 inches. Second, the chemical smell was sooo strong that I had to let it air out for a week in another room. When I finally put it on my bed, I first had to wash the cover, and spray a ton of Febreez on the foam portion. After all this, (whew!) It still had a little bit of the chemical smell, but my back doesn't seem to hurt as much when I get out of bed in the morning. I will continue to assess its quality over the next month.
NO ONE has more trouble sleeping, than me! I've had 5 major spinal surgeries and Parkinson's. (Which greatly affects one's sleep) I decided to try the Temperpedic topper, praying that it would help me get just a couple hours of uninterrupted sleep. I fell asleep last night around 10ish and woke up at 5am to use the bathroom. I seemed to be in the same position as I was when I went to sleep. It's been YEARS since getting 3 hrs of uninterrupted sleep, let alone 7!!!! If this truly makes a difference, you have a forever Temperpedic Topper Pro poster customer. Will do another review in about a week!!
I prefer quite a cool bedroom. At 60 degrees this topper is quite stiff with an almost clay like feel. It does give with body weight but is quite slow on recovery, so I find it is awkward getting into bed. If I put my knee on the bed first or don't get my bottom in the right spot right off , the indentations remain for some minutes. However, on the good side, if you are a light weight ,I think this topper would be adequate for a mattress on any flat surface.
