This topper was priced reasonably compared to other toppers. I had a tempur-pedic mattress for 15 years and hated it. We got a nice sleep number bed about 7 years ago. It was starting to feel not as comfortable so we purchased this topper. It came via UPS in a vacuum sealed bag in a box. We took the box to the bedroom, opened it, placed the topper on the bed and carefully cut open the bag. There was very little odor. We placed this directly on top of the mattress and covered it with a fiberfill mattress cover that wraps around under the mattress and put a fitted sheet on top. This holds the topper in place no problem. This was super comfortable from night one. My husband prefers firm mattress and I would rather sleep in a hammock. The topper adjusted nicely to his firm side of the bed (65) and my soft side of the bed (30). It feels like sleeping in a cloud. It is comfortable for both of us side sleepers. As far as getting too hot, this topper didn't increase that problem for either of us. We use a BedJet to control the temperature of our bed. That along with this topper, two adjustable pillows, two body pillows and a MedKline wedge make the perfect sleeping environment for us. This topper will feel different for everyone. You should test it out in store before you purchase because this is not returnable. That was not a problem for us.

It's good quality. We ordered a California King and they sent us a regular King. But the difference in size was only a couple inches on each side. So we didn't go through the hassle of exchanging it. I think it kept us from needing a new bed.
