I put this topper over a 12 yo sleep number mattress. I could not adjust the mattress for comfortable sleep anymore. Buying a new mattress wasn't in the budget. This fit the bill. It works well for me in all but one respect. I sleep hot and this keeps the heat. However, it is so comfortable that I can fall asleep almost immediately. I wake up later because I am hot and have to readjust my position in the bed. However, I get more sleep than I did before I bought it and I didn't have to spend thousands of dollars.

Plush, but hot and too soft for sensitive backs

I had high hopes for this mattress topper, given its claims of temperature control, but found that I slept hotter in it. Additionally, it caused the return of my lower back problems (absent for the past 12 years, and now recurring despite no longer using the pad).
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
