Good value over MacBook Pro

In looking for a new laptop to finish up my Master's classwork I evaluated MacBook Pro, this Samsung, and an HP. In looking at the cost vs. features/power the Samsung was better. In comparing the Samsung to the HP, I could have gone with the HP, but the touchpad was too small.
Now the thing I do not like, or maybe have not tuned as I need, is the touchpad on the Samsung. It seem to hang up - cause the laptop to freeze up when doing light web work. I am not doing anything resource intensive, and it hangs up the browsers for say 30-seconds. This should not be the case, for the laptop has more than enough power to do the work - all the more with a 512-MB video card.
I have adjusted with the Mouse (touchpad) settings and turned off a lot of the "gestures" for they seem to be a pain - they do 'things' that I do not want. I just want the touchpad to move the mouse pointer around the screen. I may be making this worse for I use my left hand to click and the right to drive the pointer. As you can see I am not thrilled with the touchpad.
I know I can use a mouse, and will when doing "work", but what is the point of a laptop if the touchpad does things you do not want when all you are trying to do is move the pointer. In short, I think the touchpad is too "helpful" and unresponsive (move the pointer fast, and just do only that!).
Overall a very good buy. Also, I do not think I will the close to the advertised battery life. This may be the thing that cause me to regret not buying the Mac. Apple advertise 10-hours, I think 4-hours out of this 6.5-hour battery will be best case.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight, i5 processor, very nice design
Cons: touchy touchpad, battery life not as told, nvida driver in linux not working

The Best Laptop Ever!

My Family of 4 have gone through our share of Pc's and Laptops.That said we've had many different brands
and not one comes close to this sleek,feature rich,amazingly fast Samsung.I Highly recommend this product to all looking to upgrade their present equipment.

Love this laptop

Great look and feel. Performs great so far - I have had the laptop for about 2 months or so. I love the looks of the laptop. The quick start up is awesome for me as a student. It is pretty speedy. Chargeable USB port is an added bonus. The only downside is the speakers aren't the best.

This computer is one of the best I have seen in along time. It is built well, feature rich and not loaded with all that extra software you will not use and just have to remove. I cannot say enough good things about this laptop. The only things I would change would be to have USB 3.0, a thicker plastic on the bottom or solid aluminum, and a back-lit keyboard but that is just me being picky. Customer support is second to none; the fact is I cannot say enough good things about this computer so just go and by one.

Well, as for being a Compaq, Dell and Toshiba past user, I wanted to get to try out the Samsung. I have the Galaxy S cell phone and so I thought it would be a great buy into the laptop arena.
The latop is very well made as one call tell buy the key board. It has a nice feel to it (I wish they would have had put in a backlit keyboard)
Out of the box, the computer is impressive and feels like a quality machine. Boot up was a breeze as was for finding my wireless signal with no problem. The I5 proessor zooms you down the highway with no delays and net surfing is not an issue. It begs for more.
Bloat ware is minimal and this computer comes with a standard teaser of Windows Office. Uninstalling of bloatware is a few clicks away.
Weight is proportionate for the quality of this laptop and should be considered carefully before purchasing it.
Two conflicts have ocurred in my latop: Web cam usage conflicts with Samsungs own webcam package so much that I had to delete Samsungs own package so that Windows Live Messenger would not get confused. This was also corrected by uninstalling Win MSNG for a few times.
Graphics are sharp; as so is the sound quality far better than my Toshiba.
Computer is limited in heat giving and it surely be a hit with people who hate carrying a hot hard drive.
Overall, a good purchase and I will update as it is put through its paces.
