Practice Makes Perfect

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Shark FlexStyle is a neat styling tool. It is an all in one tool that allows me to ditch the bulky blow dryer and curlers. My first couple attempts at styling my wet hair with the dryer were total fails. I knew going into this tool I would need a lot of practice to really get it right. Thankfully, Shark has a lot of tutorials on their website to guide you on the type of style you want. My hair is long, wavy, and always gets a nice puff when I blow dry. My hair also hold curls extremely well, I never use hairspray. My first attempt at trying to add some curls to my wet hair was bad. I knew immediately what I did wrong too. They suggest you use the paddle brush to pull out your wet curly hair to get it as straight and flat as you can. That is the key for my hair because the first attempt my hair still had a lot of bumps and was way too puffy for my liking. Second attempt I really focused on getting my hair dry and straight using the round and paddle brushes. After I felt like I was at a good spot, I waited to add the curls. My hair will usually hold curls better after I let it cool down before applying additional heat. The curling attachments are cool and do take a little learning. I struggled more on my right side at first because my hair didn’t want to wrap. However, once you start going it’s pretty easy. I did realize also that you need pretty small sections to make this work. At the end, my hair has nice bouncy curls. This isn’t how I’d typically wear my curls but I don’t hate the look and it’ll grow on me. One more thing to note, I don’t think this saved me any time honestly. I still have a ton of hair and it probably takes about the same amount of time using a blow dryer brush and curling wand. Also, one thing I think would be beneficial is like a carrying bag or something. There are a handful of attachments and it would be great to have a bag included to take for travel or even storage. Overall though, I really like the concept and the more I use it the more comfortable I feel. It’s a very cool styling tool!

Amazing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Okay, to be honest, I wasn’t a huge fan at first because I couldn’t get those voluminous curls or blowouts that everyone and their mother was able to do. However, I realized the problem wasn’t the tool, but me! There’s a learning curve for sure, but once I got pass that, my confidence literally sky rocketed!!! I’m still not even good at using it, but omg, my hair looks great and I don’t even have to use any fancy hair styling products and my curls have lasted me for three days, maybe more but I usually wash my hair on the third day. In addition, the blow drying function itself is amazing! My hair dries so fast and the heat isn’t super burning hot like typical blow dryers. My hair is thin, flat, and oily, so here are my tips on how I make this work.

Love the FlexStyle!

I bought this a couple of months ago. It did take about a month to arrive but it was worth the wait. I used to dread drying and styling my hair, but this makes it so easy! The amount of power is insane I can dry my hair so quickly. I usually do an all over dry with the concentrator and the heat set to cold, then go back in with the round brush on a warmer setting to get more volume. I have so much more confidence in my hair. I docked a star for a few reasons. First, this thing is LOUD and high pitched. My watch always alerts me when I use it that I might get temporary hearing loss due to the dB. Second, it does create knots more easily than my other hair dryers, but I bet that’s due to the higher power. Lastly, the curler attachments are kind of a bust. I don’t curl my hair often, but when I’ve tried it my hair holds the curl less well than a regular iron. To be fair, they do wrap easily so if your hair curls easily they might work for you. Additionally, sometimes my hair will get crimped lines from the ridges on the barrel. I might purchase the smaller barrels to see if that helps hold the curl better in the future- wish those were available when I purchased initially!

FlexStyle bang for your buck

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have the FlexStyle as well as the Dyson equivalent so of course I had to do a comparison.
What I like better than Dyson: the brush attachments are bigger, feel nicer and give more volume. The FlexStyle is lighter and easier to manage since you can twist the attachments around. The Dyson Air Wrap does not have a diffuser attachment whereas FlexStyle does.

What I don't like about FlexStyle: it doesn't come with a case which is a big negative for me, there are far too many attachments to keep up with and try to find a place for. Some components feel a little cheap, there is some creaking and moving if you shake it around.
Everything else is quite comparable. Neither is more loud than the other, the curling attachments are almost identical.
Essentially, if you are looking to save money and you value volume I 100% recommend getting the FlexStyle.

Versatile hair tool!

I love how I can style my hair with lower heat than a traditional curling iron. The FlexStyle takes significantly less time for me to curl my long, thick hair. There was a bit of a learning curve with air-wrapping, but I got the hang of it in no time! I absolutely enjoy how fun my hair routine is now and look forward to trying different styles. The round brush gives me a nice little blowout without too much work; it's fast and easy enough to do on a daily basis. When I need just a regular hir dryer, I'm able to rotate the nozzle super easily to give me another angle with my hair. I absolutely recommend this hair styling tool!

I’m not a fan of having to change the curler when I switch sides. But I’m assuming that’s normal for this type of tool

My hair has never looked better, fuller, or lasted longer between washes. The drying attachment is also awesome. I have waist length hair and it was dried to the perfect level after using the attachment. It’s better than any product I’ve tried in the past. I can’t say enough good things. I definitely, definitely recommend!
