We’ve been using Defenders on our iPhones since our very first Apple device (4S). A constant disappointment has been the lack of designs and colors seen in other OtterBox cases, however we overlooked that because the cases always held up well and protected our phones without fail. We sadly report that this version of Defender for 16 Plus is highly disappointing and we worry if it will protect our devices as well as previous models. This case is advertised as thick, however the material seems thinner than previous cases. Older versions always had a drop down or ridge from the edge of the case to the face of the device. The front of the phone and the camera lenses in the back are practically flush with the edge of the case. We have a screen protector on the front and now are considering buying lens protectors as well. The former design with the dropped edge gave an added buffer space to protect from impacts and scratches that this case simply doesn’t have. We’ve also noticed within the last week that the soft cover is already beginning to be loose fitting and bubbling out in the back around the mag safe section and next to the camera button on the side. This sort of wear, loose fitting bubbling in previous defender cases took at least a month before this would occur. Sadly we are actively seeking other options.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
