Wear Flowers in Your Hair

Yes I was really impressed with the level of detail and the powerful suggestiveness of the bricks to depict the beautiful SF skyline. I am seeing a shift in Lego with their new skyline sets to be more about capturing a scene versus the pure architectural theme of say the New York set which has no scenery and is all about just the buildings. This might be too because NYC is so rich in architecture but NYC also has its share of iconic bridges, ya know what I mean! At first I did not agree with the orientation of the Golden gate bridge towers but Lego's is all about subjectivity and the power of suggestion and I now understand why they did it this way as it presents a much more pleasing view. Nice Job on this city by the bay scene. I live in CA and go often to SF for pleasure and work so it is special.

One of the best representations

Having recently rebuilt some of my older Architecture skylines, particularly thinking of Venice, when I got this new set, I was really really impressed by the depth of the representations. I agree with another reviewer that it is not simply buildings all separate, but there has been an effort made to group the buildings and give the skyline less of a '2d' look. I particularly love the mini coloured houses, they are really cute. My favourite of the skyline series so far......

Very Visually Appealing

Overall a very enjoyable build. In my opinion, it is the best looking Skyline set as the design actually resembles a city, as opposed to a collection of separate buildings spaced apart from one another.

Very impressive and captured beauty of SF

It’s a quick and easy build, just like the other architecture sets. The end result is stunning for the city. I think the designer did as good of a job as he/she can for the Golden Gate Bridge considering the limited space and pieces. With that said, I hated the fact the instruction manual has black background. With the reflection of the light above, it was a nightmare to follow the instruction with black, brown and dark green pieces. There is a reason why all the books use white background and black letters!
One design criticism: the red hook between two bridge towers are not centered. That bothers me quite bit! It is a easy fix. Not sure if it is by design or was over looked.

Thanks for your review.

We're sorry to hear that you found the instructions difficult to read; we'll make sure your feedback gets to the right team.

As for that clip, it is meant to be off-center. That's because we tried our hands at a bit of forced perspective in this set. By having one side of the bridge smaller and the connection off-center, it gives a feel of space and depth.

A bridge too far?

Lego has captured the skyline of San Francisco really well in this model - the steep street and cable cars, Alcatraz and the Trans-america pyramid building are especially good. I'm not so sure about the Golden Gate bridge though; I understand the designer has tried to present a 3 dimensional view of the bridge two dimensionally by using some forced perspective, and it works to a degree from an angle (but obviously not face on when it looks odd). I guess had the bridge been a conventional design (like Tower bridge in the London skyline) the model have been even longer (to be realistic), but then it would have been out of kilter with other sets in the skyline series. Nonetheless, a very aesthetic looking model.

I love lego architecture

The Lego Architecture line does not disappoint in any way, this is my 11th set in the Line and I always find myself buying more, this set does what every other Lego Architecture skyline does, it perfectly represents landmarks and historical sites from a certain city and makes them look good next to each other. Just hinting Lego, I would love to see a set of the Milwaukee Art Museum.
