Great Step Up

I have been using the basic flat filters for several years. I always thought that as long as I changed or cleaned them every month they were just as good as the more expensive "Allergen Reduction" filters. Boy was I wrong. I decided to try a Filtrete Allergen Reduction filter because my eyes were constantly irritated and itchy, and on wet humid days I could smell that "wet dog" smell more often. I've been using the model 1200 filter for just over two months, and my eyes are not itchy and there has been NO wet dog smell. I have been very happy with this purchase; just wish I had tried them many years ago.

Good filter but some issues

We've been using your filters for many years and have had one recurring issue. The housing for the filter doesn't have a lot of wiggle room, but it requires and accepts a 4" filter, so while the filter usually slides in just fine, getting it out is a challenge. It's ok if I am disposing of the old one and installing a new filter, but if I have to pull it for any kind of service, it gets destroyed in the process of extraction and that gets expensive when I have to replace a minimally used filter. My furnace company has worked on the housing and done as much as possible to improve the opening. What I notice is that the cardboard framing that contains the filter does not fit tightly and in fact bulges even on a brand new filter. This frame is what gets caught both going in and coming out of the houing. I would appreciate any feedback you might have pertaining to this issue.
I apologize for the long-winded e-mail, but I wanted to clearly describe the issue I have with what is otherwise a fine filter system.

Size not accurate.

This item measures 4-3/8", not 4" and will not fit into my furnace. I am very disappointed because I trust this to be a great filter.

Because our 4" filters can be used and will offer the same performance in housings that accommodate 5" or thicker filters, our filters are over cut by 3/16''. I can breathe!

I've been using the Filtrete allergen filters for over 8 years in my forced air furnace/AC unit. I can breathe better and the house has reduced dust. It makes for easier cleaning!

Am very satisfied with the effectiveness of the Filtrete 16x25x4 filter. I have a variable speed fan on my HVAC unit, and run it 24 hrs. 365 days. My house stays fairly dust-free. I am happy to let the filter do the work for me!
