It wasn’t what I expected. It simply sets on top of the current grill. It isn’t an insert to replace the grills. I was hoping for more of a Blackstone finish. I could have put a cast iron pan on top and achieved the same result.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

OK, so I decided on 4 stars. First 5 stars because I really really like this griddle. HOWEVER, it is prone to rusting and needed much more cleaning than the grates and/or flavorizer bars. Have the 400 series really nice, setup is half the BBG has grates and then other half has the griddle. Use this set at least 2-3 times/week year round, maybe a bit more during 'BBQ' season. Saw the Weber page about maintaining the griddle. starting to follow that, but point here is the griddle requires much more attention than the grates! A bit of a PIA, in that you really need to clean it after most uses, paper towels, water/oil etc and a metal spatula scrapper , unlike the grates where I just use a brush to clean old meals off :) However all that said, I really really like the options the griddle provides!
