it was a bit of a lot of money at least for me to get this thermostat but ever since I installed it I haven't looked back since. I previously had a smart thermostat that was in the house I just bought but being a lesser offer brand kept having problems with the thermostat , turning off the heat in the middle of winter. so I bought this thermostat, and lo and behold it actually wasn't that thermostat from before it was a problem with the furnace which Google nest actually let me know via email and notifications. that alone made it worth getting and paying every penny for this thermostat. but that's not including all the functions customization scheduling even the power economy of the hours and days for in comparison to how much you use power on other days, I'm just blown away by the overall easy installation, dozens of features and it seems to have, and can't wait to try a new Google nest home integration device soon, to add to all my other Google home / smart home devices. :)

Nest Learning Thermostat

The things I like:1) beautiful display - looks more like art on the wall than a thermostat. 2) being able to control when I'm not in the houseThe things that seem awkward1)Set up was AWFUL. "Can't connect to Internet"..."restart"...."Can't connect to Internet"...My goodness, I have a couple of TV's, a laptop, an iPad, my phone all connected to the internet and GOOGLE for goodness sake can't connect? After restarting 6 or 7 times, finally it connected. We have NO IDEA WHAT WE DID THAT SUDDENLY MADE IT WORK.2) Keeping it connected to the internet. Tricky. Apparently it is best to connect it to a 2.4G network, and then make sure all of your other devices are on a 5G network. But it took reading very dense help pages to find that trick3) The instructions are simply awful. Either not enough detail, or if you click for detail - pages and pages of detailNow that it's running, I like it, but there were several points I was ready to stuff it back in its box and take it back.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great until it stopped working

I really liked the nest thermostat, until it stopped working and google did nothing to fix it. I have basically sold my soul to google, I have pixel phone, subscribe youtube tv, youtube music, etc. I have generally had no issues but this was really disappointing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
