Love it!

This is exactly what I was looking for in a smart thermostat. I can turn the heat up before I leave work on a cold winter day, tell Alexa to adjust the temp if I'm busy around the house, or set it to eco mode to know that I'm saving energy and money. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful & well thought out

From the easy setup to the finished sleek look on the wall, installation was super easy.
Set it up set initial temp and through the next week or two adjust the temp to your personal comfort.
It remembers those adjustments and sets up a schedule for you. You’ll notice you are making fewer adjustments as time goes on.

Worth Every Penny

We live in an older home. Our furnace is new, but we have lots of drafts. As you can imagine, our energy bills are above what we'd like. In the coldest parts of winter, we can get well over 250$ a month. I've had the NEST thermostat a little over a month and got my bill a few days ago. I can say it was almost 30% lower than normal! That means, I save money to pay on other things!
This thing is awesome. Setup was so easy! It does just about everything for you after it powers on.
The daily history it gives you blew me away. On the 1st day, my furnace ran for 9 3/4 hours. A week later, in the same weather conditions, it was maintaining the same temperature in my house...but...it was only running 2 hours a day to maintain the temperature. That. Is. Epic.
Buy one. Now.

Defective units

My first Nest had a defective light sensor so it did not turn on as we approached. Replaced it and the second one had defective controls so it was impossible to set the parameters in setting. Gonna try one more time.

Constant power and connectivity issues

I only had my thermostat for roughly 2 months before the issues started. They don't mention this in the installation guide, but if you don't have a "neutral" wire, your Nest thermostat will ultimately have Wi-Fi connectivity issues then eventually die completely. Without the neutral wire the Nest is not able to properly recharge even though there is a power wire connected. So it thinks it has low voltage/low power and will not connect to Wi-Fi if it has a low battery. Not to mention it will just randomly drop Wi-Fi connection for no reason. In the end, you'll find yourself pulling it off the wall to charge it with a micro USB on a daily basis until you have to make the decision to call customer support, or just throw it away.FYI, if you order a warranty replacement unit, be prepared for the wrong color, surface scuffs, poor bezel spin... just stick with that old yellowing thermostat that was in the house when you moved in. Not worth the trouble.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

In some cases, particularly if you have a heating- or cooling-only system or use a zone controller, a C wire or other power-supply accessory may be necessary. It’s pretty cool

I like it it was easy to install and setup. The price is decent. My only complaint is that it gives you a history of how many hours the furnace was on. Is that I wish it would tell you the avg outside temp of that day as well. Because I’m doing home improvements and would like to be able to see if it benefited me or the weather was just warmer
