Nothing cheap here

Nest did an excellent job of making an amazing product. This product has the feel of something built to last a long time. I expected a cheap feeling plastic product but was surprised to feel the quality of the thermostat. Though the price is higher, you get a lot of options with this product over other products I looked at while shopping.

From start to finish, great experience. The packaging is beautiful, the directions are as easy as it can get, and it's simply a stunning product. I have two in my home and love being in the Nest ecosystem!

Excellent product!

I installed my NEST and it was really easy. I wanted to replace an older thermostat with a new one that allowed setbacks at night and while I am away. The NEST actually learned the setbacks that I wanted in just a few days. It also interfaces with my security system, so it knows when I am away and automatically goes to my setbacks. I love it!

Old thermostat gave up on me so I decided why not get the best option now & start building a small eco friendly home one app at a time lol..It is very good & I have seen a reduction in my energy cost which was the 2nd reason for this purchase. I would recommend for sure. Love home/away assist, and going back & seeing how much energy was used the prior day. Our A/C burns the most energy so why not!

I absolutely love the Nest thermostat and would recommend it to anyone! I have had it for almost a month and it’s went above and beyond my expectations. We went from a basic thermostat to the Nest and I honestly do not know what we were doing without it. It learns your previous temperatures, you can control it through your phone and you can see usage. LOVE LOVE!

Does not hold battery and keeps powering down

I have had the nest 3rd Generation thermostat for over 3 years and have never had an issue. Last October it got a software update and I've had nothing but problems with it since then. The battery keeps draining and shutting itself down and I have to manually charge it up daily. I've gone through all the troubleshooting, including changing my router password and getting a whole new router, hired an electrician to check the wiring and it was fine. And after five months of troubleshooting and frustration I went and bought another one. That one is doing the exact same thing. After many phone calls to technical assistance and nobody has been able to help. I am convinced it's the latest software version that's giving the issue. I originally bought this for convenience and trying to conserve power and energy. And the past 6 months I have spent a generous amount of money on a new router, electrician, and purchasing a whole new unit. I don't know what to do anymore.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We designed Nest thermostats to have an internal battery that charges up by using the wires from your heating and cooling system. However, there are cases where the power from HVAC systems can’t deliver enough power to keep the thermostat charged up. As a result, the battery drains over time. The resolution may be to install a common (C) wire in your system to deliver constant power to the thermostat. The power resolution will also help fix the connectivity issue. You may contact a Nest Pro technician for assistance with the installation for your common (C) wire.

Nest Thermostat with additional Temperature sensor

First off, we LOVE our nest thermostat. It's our second one. When we moved into our new house it's about the first thing we did...upgrade the "factory" thermostat with a Nest thermostat. This time, we bought the one with the extra temp sensor. Thought it would be useful for keeping us comfortable in our bedroom. It took several tries to get it hooked up to the the main nest thermostat but finally it worked. For a day. Then it lost connection. We have tried disconnecting it, removing it from the account and re-adding, it, even holding it next to the Nest thermostat with no luck. We have been completely unable to get the additional sensor working. Really disappointed. And just FYI, we have one at my wife's office and it took probably 20 tries to get the temp sensor added there, too, so I'm VERY familiar with the process. It constantly timed out and said unable to find the sensor until it finally worked. This one for our house is just a dud, I'm guessing. Pretty dissapointed.
