Nest Learning Thermostat

I am extremely pleased with my Nest learning thermostat. I did a compatibility check on the nest website to see if my old unit was compatible. The wiring was very easy and took less than 10 minutes to install. We are so pleased with this product we are putting one in a second home that we own.

Close to a month

My first quarrel was with the installation. The app walked me through the wires etc. and then randomly determined I needed a professional, and would not let me get past that point or reset, no matter what I chose. So I googled the matching wiring and it was easy as pie.Set-up the eco modes, etc. and now every day, the thermostat randomly decides I'm not home and bumps it up to 76. I work from home, have pets, and live in a townhome. 76 downstairs, is about 84 upstairs where my office is. I turned off eco mode, and then noticed it had the 76 in the schedule. I had to delete each entry from the schedule. Done.Next day, its set to 76, how? Schedule is somehow set again to 76. Delete the entire schedule again, one entry at a time (not an easy task). Ended up disabling smart learning after several weeks of this fight. 2 stars because it looks nice.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thermostat changes its temperature automatically due to some factors like, schedule, learned habits (auto schedule), and Home/Away Assist which makes your thermostat go to ECO mode. Aside from the troubleshooting that you’ve done, we also suggest turning off your Home/Assist, and make sure to clear the existing and learned schedules by selecting Settings, then Reset, then Schedule and Reset again.

Simplistic Design and total control

The design is clean and simple. The options for stainless steel, glossy black or bronze is a plus. Total home control, compatibility with other devices and design is the reason for the purchase over rival thermostats. I look forward to purchasing other Nest products in the future.

As I don't use it to save energy, I love the convenience of using it. All the information is there when I need it. If feel under the weather and want a warmer home when I get home, is easily done on the way from my phone.

Set it and forget about it

My wife and I purchased the 3rd generation nest thermostat this past December (2018). Our local power company, Georgia Power, was offering $145 off the retail price during their Black Friday sale. This thermostat is easy to setup and truly a set it and forget it device. We love being able to adjust the temperature from the comforts of our bedroom through the use of the Nest app. A++ Product
