Makes preparing dinner fun with the Spiralizer

I received this as a gift for my birthday and bought the spiralizer at the same time. The kids loved eating beets and potatoes with onions all curled up like ribbons. The trick with the spiralizer is to use veggies that are about the size of a tennis ball or medium apple. Anything larger than that is too big.

I purchased this because my Oster mixer, after many years, started acting erratically. I really did not want to spend the money, but it was well worth it. What used to take me about 10 minutes only took 4 - 5 minutes. It was quiet, and I must say worked much better than my old mixer ever did. I am glad I went with the stainless steel bowl instead of the glass bowl. My old machine had the glass bowl and I always had to have my husband hold it while I scooped the mix out. Ladies, get the stainless bowl you will not need to ask for any help.

The only thing I would recommend is that Kitchenaid put a notice in their instructions that there is a film on the stainless bowl that needs to be scrubbed 2-3 times intensly with salt and oil.Before doing this,it turned my dough black. It sort of freaked me out and ruined my first few mixtures. I am still getting used to not having the beater touching the sides or bottom of the bowl. You have to scrape the sides a lot. It is very powerful and does a good job mixing my bread dough.

I've only made one pound cake so far but it turned out better than usual and didn't fall at all. I love the slow speed and the paddle that gets right to the edge and requires almost no scraping around the bowl. My husband also loves the quieter motor. Just wondering why I waited so long to get one!
