Makes smooth and creamy ice cream and is really easy to use. Find your favorite ice cream or frozen dessert recipe, mix it up, chill it down and then pour it into the (pre-frozen) bowl. Let the ice cream maker work its magic and enjoy.

My wife and I have been complaining how the standard package of ice cream has shrunk from half-gallon to less than that, for equal or more money, and yet we still find 2 or 3 open packages in the freezer that eventually go into the trash before we eat them. Given that, the ability to make 1 1/2 quarts in our new Cuisinart machine is plenty and obviously way better than the normal supermarket style. My wife prefers soft-serve ice cream, which is exactly what comes out of the machine after 20 minutes, and then we hard-freeze the rest (when there is any left over!). The recipes in the user guide are extensive and of course there are endless more recipes online. We already carved out a permanent space in our chest freezer for the bowl!

I don't know why I waited so long to get my own ice cream maker. I was driven now by my inability to find a high-quality peach ice cream for the summer. After some pretty thorough research, I chose this one by Cuisinart -- and I could not happier. It is incredibly easy to use, very fast (20 minutes!) and was by far the best price for an electric churn. So far, I've only made the "simple chocolate" and "simple vanilla" recipes included and they are among the best I've tasted ANYWHERE for those flavors. Next up (in the next day or two): strawberry -- after which I'll start going more exotic (including peach, as soon as I can find some good, ripe, Georgia peaches). I could not recommend this maker more highly.

My husband wasn't sure about an ice cream maker that didn't need the usual rock salt & ice. It does require planning ahead of time, unless you have space to leave the main bowl in your freezer at all times. Only a few minutes to mix your ingredients, less than 20 minutes in the maker (bowl spins not the paddle) and the you have about 6 cups of fresh ice cream. It's an ICE-21P1 model.

Careful how much liquid you put in, it can overflow during the freezing process. Works great, simple to use, and easy to clean if it does overflow. (Might know from personal experience).

Bought the ice cream machine simply because it was on sale. So glad I did! Watching ice cream come to life was fun enough but who imagined it would be so delicious? Even the vanilla is fabulous. Not sure I can ever go back to store bought again. Buy it and enjoy!
