ASUS RT‑AX3000S advertises per‑band controls in the Professional settings, but several options are actually global toggles. Airtime Fairness, MU‑MIMO, and Xtra Range 2.0 all change on both bands no matter where you set them. The UI makes it look like these are independent 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz settings, but the firmware doesn’t behave that way. This is misleading and causes unintended configuration changes, especially for users who tune each band differently. ASUS should fix the UI or implement true per‑band control. If a setting is global, don’t present it as per‑band. Professional mode should behave professionally.

This router was incredibly easy to install for someone relatively unfamiliar with internet equipment. The instructions were clear, well written, and easy to understand. The app is intuitive and has many useful features. The router itself appears to be high quality. It has functioned perfectly thus far and fixed all of the issues I was having with the default router provided by my internet provider. I am getting consistent fast internet speeds, even from several rooms away. I like the amount of control I have in the app over customizing certain settings like separating the 2.4 and 5ghz bandwidths, which was causing me problems on my old router. I felt the price was fair for the quality I received.

I added a brand new router as a AI Mesh to my existing router. Performance is degrading and dropping the signal some times...

We do understand your disappointment with the router and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are experiencing drop in wireless signal and a degradation in network performance. Typically, this is caused by physical distance, conflicting wireless bands or firmware mismatches. To resolve this issues, If connected wirelessly, the RT-AX3000S node must be close enough to your main router to get a strong signal, but far enough to cover your dead zone. Ideally, keep them 3 to 5 meters apart while syncing, and then place the node about halfway between the main router and the room with poor coverage. Keep it away from walls and obstructions, keep it elevated off the floor and away from electronic devices that may cause interference. Additionally, try to disable "Smart Connect" and try connecting your devices manually to either 2.4GHz or 5GHz. Furthermore, we recommend updating the router's firmware if it is running with an older version.
