As a neophyte to the pleasures of whole bean, I've been shopping around and gave Holiday Blend a try. It tasted "meh" to me, somehow I expected a more distinctive and memorable flavor. Maybe it's me, existentially caught between committing to a preference for medium and dark roast. This was medium in more ways than one.

Great Coffee

Every year I buy the holiday blend I'm a decaf coffee drinker. And every year the coffee is good some years are better than others. But for some reason I haven't seen any decaf holiday blend so far this season. It would be a disappointment if they didn't have it this year.

I'm not a big coffee drinker but I wanted to try this coffee. The first time I brewed it, it didn't smell like anything special. I tried drinking it black to see, and it tasted like cleaning chemicals mixed with a brown water color. I added sugar and French vanilla creamer to it, and it brings out the "maple" that it talks about, but it's not the greatest coffee.

Compared to previous Holiday Blends, disappointing

As many others, I wait this time of the year to buy and savour Starbucks’ Holiday Blend. This year’s blend is not too special, especially if compared to past brews. It is marketed as sweet and herbal with notes of maple. It is definitely very herbal tasting but I wouldn’t describe it as sweet. Au contraire it’s quite dark and bitter. Try it first before buying, if possible.

Tastes like Ricola lozenge.

I love trying new flavors so I was excited to try the Holiday blend. The herbal flavor completely overpowered the maple and even the flavor of the coffee itself. No matter how much sugar or cream I add it tastes more like a Ricola lozenge than coffee. Will not be buying this in the future.
