Stopped working after a week
on June 15, 2022

Set up my router, everything seemed to be working fine but after a week it stopped working. No amount of rebooting made a difference, I switched back to my ancient cisco router and it worked fine (slow, but fine.) I suspect that something is wrong with the firmware but couldn't figure out how to connect to the router to update through the app since the router was offline.

An Excellent Router

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My other router was starting to fail, and since I had a Netgear modem, I decided to stay within the same ecosystem and get their router. Setup could have been a little easier, but fortunately Netgear support was there to help. They require you to setup the router via smartphone; however, apparently, my phone was too old to do the job, so Netgear support had to walk me through how to complete the task. Once I got it setup, I had to listen to a sales spiel to get me to sign up for a service contract. No thanks. In all the time I've administered my own modem and router (save for the setup this time), I've never had to contact customer support. I consider a service contract to be a colossal waste of money. Anyway, the router is working well, and I'm happy to have chosen it.

A Solid Reliable Router with Good Speeds.

I have a 1200 square foot house with lots of corners and my signal was solid throughout the house. My devices that can take advantage of WIFI6 had a considerably more noticeable speed than when connected to WIFI5. I had 36 to 42 devices connected to the router at a time and never experienced a slowdown. I only stream TV and do not have cable or satellite TV while my kid games on a PC and my wife is constantly online. Netgear has done a good job of simplifying setup processes. I received and tested the beta version of the RAX50 router at no cost and this is my honest review.
I would recommend this to a friend!

AX6 RAX50

As a retired network engineer from a major US telecom, I have extensive experience with commercial grade networking products. For a midrange home router the AX6 has thus far performed beautifully. It replaced an R7000 and there is a notable improvement in performance. There has been both improvement on the wi-fi side of the router as well as smaller improvement on throughput to the Internet side of the router. The setup through the Nighthawk was seamless and very straightforward. One of the reasons for upgrading was the support for WPA2-AES and WPA3 as the R7000 only supported WPA2-TKIP which proven to be less secure. I have paired the router with an EAX15 Extender replacing a pair of TP-Link extenders. The improved wi-fi coverage on the new devices has allowed me to eliminate a 2nd extender. Home is 2 level, 2800 sq ft condo. One thing I would like to see would be support for trunking and VLAN implementation. My place has structured Ethernet infrastructure with outlets in every room. My 4 Rokus are all connected via Ethernet back to patch panel and Gig switch and from there to the AX6. Being to create a trunk to the switch and then separate VLANs to each of Rokus would allow me to get everything off a flat LAN. Just a thought. Overall the AX6 has fully met my expectations.

Garbage

Router has poor or no connection to most items in household. When it does connect the connection is unstable. App for adjusting settings crashes and is useless. Cheap router supplied by cable provider worked better.
