Very nice and compact, perfect for our small kitchen, and just the two of us. Specific settings for toast and for bagels is very convenient. Very good workmanship. And an outstanding value.

Not the usual quality I associate with Crisinart. The dial to set color of toast is so easy to move that you can just brush against it and it moves. Also the very top of some slices of bread don't get toasted. Some larger bagels don't fit in the slots. Very disappointed. I will be returning it.

We’re sorry to hear this toaster didn’t meet the quality you expect from Cuisinart and understand how disappointing that can be. We recommend ensuring the toast shade dial is set prior to use, centering bread in the slots for more even browning at the top, and noting that thicker bagels may toast best when sliced or toasted in multiple cycles; our Consumer Assistance Center is also available at 1-800-726-0190 should you wish to discuss this further Ticket #8900577049. We’re glad to hear you were able to complete a hassle-free return. Thank you for sharing your feedback—it helps us drive improvements in future models.

Pros: Does a fine job of toasting. Cool to the touch when operating. Very lightweight, easy to turn upside down to shake out crumbs. Cons: The biggest con is that the first several toasting cycles smell like burning plastic. Really horrible smell, presumably somewhat toxic. Do a few cycles empty, until smell stops, with ventilation. Slots are smaller back to front than our previous unit, longer slices have to be turned and put in again. Dial turns easily, can be knocked to unintended setting if not careful.

Nice looking toaster and the controls are easy to use. But, when I toast things the browning isn't even and I end up turning the items 180degrees to get overall browning. Now, we didn't spend much on this toaster so I suspect you get what you pay for. We had an older model that finally gave up and it toasted quite even.

We appreciate you sharing your experience and are glad to hear you found the toaster easy to use and visually appealing. Uneven browning can sometimes occur based on bread thickness or placement, so we recommend centering items in the slots, allowing the toaster to cool briefly between cycles, and cleaning out the crumb tray regularly, as residue buildup can affect heating performance. Our Consumer Assistance Center would be happy to review this with you at 1‑800‑726‑0190—please reference Ticket #8900582839 when calling. Thank you for your feedback, as it helps us improve performance and design in future models.

Wirecutter says this is the best toaster but don't expect it to last, and I can confirm that it only worked for about 2 years and then stopped toasting reliably so I had to replace it.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the 2 Slice Compact Plastic Toaster and for referencing your long-term use. While many consumers appreciate its performance, inconsistent toasting over time can sometimes be related to crumb buildup or internal wear, and we recommend regular cleaning of the crumb tray and allowing the unit to cool fully between uses. Thank you for your feedback, as it helps us improve durability and performance in future models.
