Almost a five star, but not quite. On the same setting (bagel and 3.5) I sometimes get perfect toasting and sometimes get singed edges. I'm sure it is related to the thickness of the bagel and/or my slicing, but I have no way to anticipate this problem. Otherwise, it is speedy and effective. A major improvement over its predecessor.

We bought this one to replace the exact same model we had bought 4 years earlier. Would have liked the old one to last a bit longer, but for the price and for something used daily, we had no doubts about buying the same again. So far works fine.

A great toaster, 2nd one by Cuisinart also, 1st one about 20 years old just wanted to replace it, gave it to Good Will. I would highly recommend, does a nice job toasting your bread.

A superb replacement for our 47 year old Hamilton beach chrome toaster. The sleek, white Cuisinart 2-slot toaster we bought matches our white kitchen cabinets and countertops perfectly. It operates flawlessly whether bread, English muffins and bagels. Consistently, daily knocks out great results. The lift feature is ingenious.

The first time we used the toaster it gave off a strong chemical odor. We immediately shut it off and put out on our porch. Once the toaster had cooled down, we tried it again. The same strong smell came out of the toaster. After ten tries and no lessening of the odor, we returned the toaster to the store and purchased a different brand. That new toaster worked fine. No bad chemical smell.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
