I made this purchase thinking I would get an adequate product. This item is very, very, poor, The Temp knob was also broken when I got it. In the photos it shows a Bagel button, but it real does not work. It should turn off the outside burners, so your bagel is only toasted on one side of each half. the different shades of toasting are also way off. I am very disappointed with Cuisinart and this product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The unit started not toasting on one side of the bread. I was thrilled to find this unit is still available after all these years (and cheaper).

I'm disappointed with my new Model CPT-122 toaster. It doesn't heat the toast unless you turn the dial up to almost all the way. It's only a little bit better than the same model that it replaced. I thought that Cuisiart was a more reliable brand.

Out the box the heating filaments do not all come on so that the toast is burnt on one side and not toasted on the other.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We needed to replace our toaster and the Cuisinart 2-Slice Compact Plastic Toaster has met our need. It works fine, but our choice had more to do with the three year warranty. There are many available toasters that start off working fine, but within two years they become defective. This is why the Cuisnart was an easy choice: it works fine and should there be a problem, it is backed-up by a three year warranty

Initially, it would toast only one side at the middle setting or burn that side if you tried increasing the setting. Then we experimented and discovered that the bagel setting toasted almost evenly on both sides. The instructions did not specify that the bagel setting was the one to use, and I wonder whether we were just lucky and/or if this will be true for other users. The uneven toasting is my only criticism. On the plus side, it does toasts much quicker than any other toaster I’ve used. I will hold on to this toaster unless it stops toasting reasonably evenly. If there’s another way to get an even toasting, pls let us all know. Most of these toasters are not well made. This one is better than most. Fingers crossed.
