High utility cable modem router

This unit is outperforming the original vendor provided unit in terms of signal strength and apparent reliability. The 2.4 is needed to connect some of my older devices and it is also performing well.

With the nighthawk, I had no need for mesh extenders. The unit also increased the speed from what my previous unit was having. I had some issues with connecting and found customer service very helpful and they made sure my problems were resolved.

Purchased new as replacement for dead router

Old rotuer/access point died in a lightening storm. The Nighthawk had good reviews and purchased it as a replacement. Price was higher than other companies modem/access points. Ran into issues with the admin account and password. And with Xfinity. After Xfinity was fixed, had to call netgear support to get past connecting to the access point and getting prompted for an admin password. While my wife was on the phone, I kept trying different passwords combinations until I got though the screens. One screen required a special character for the password, another didn't and finally got past that and the security questions. The router is only 800MB, so if you want ot have a higher Internet speed, you need a different router. It's been working ok since then. Not seeing as many disconnects/loss of signal as with the old router.
