I have had this cable modem/router for months and it works well. We do not have cable TV, only OTA for local channels and internet for streaming services. My only two comments are that I have to reset the router every now and then and recently the signal drops and comes back randomly. Secondly, in using the user’s guide to set up my net gear 811n router as an AP/Range extender I could not set-up the two routers following both manuals. For those of us willing to figure it out, it would help to have videos online to help users!
Decided I didn’t want to pay to rent a modem from Xfinity anymore so I went out and picked up the AC1900. Works perfect, noticeable improvement in WiFi speed and a breeze to set up. My only complaint is that it’s fairly ugly, but so is every other modem/router on the market so I won’t knock stars off for that. While I was unsure about getting a 2-in-1 modem/router combo, the AC1900 greatly exceeded my expectations.
This router is a good performer, but the signal strength is about the same as the Comcast provided router. If I would have know I would have just went with a modem and a mesh system. It is nice not to pay to rent.

Hi Walt. Your modem performance may be able to be increased by adjusting some of the settings. Please login to MyNETGEAR and click on support. One of our support experts will be happy to help.
This has been the best piece of equipment I’ve had from Netgear. Products only keep getting better. Restart is fast, settings are easy and the fact that you have more than one LAN connections on top of everything else is a winner for me. I love the fact that Netgear has stepped it up with their service when I called in! With the registering and having your own account, I didn’t have to sit there and spit numbers out. They pulled everything up that they needed in a flash. Definitely will continue sticking with Netgear for a long time.
