I was scared that pressure canning would be too difficult, but it’s been awesome! I’ve canned quarts and quarts of French onion soup with vidalia onions. I’m using Ball recipes and everything has turned out perfectly. The dial gauge is easy to read and understand.

Pressure canning can be intimidating at first. Once you become comfortable with the process, it's so fun. A lot of hard work, but fun. We're glad to hear you are having great success.
If you are looking for a heavy-duty canner that won't break the bank, the Presto 23-Quart is a workhorse. It features a reliable dial gauge and includes the necessary jar rack, making it easy for beginners to start pressure canning meats and vegetables safely. However, buyers should be aware of the manufacturing origin. While Presto is a historic U.S. brand founded in 1905, their current canning pots are made in China. The design and quality testing are still handled in the U.S., and the build quality remains sturdy, but if 'Made in the USA' is your top priority, you may want to look at All American models instead.

Sadly to say I bought this scanner five years ago and never used it because I was afraid of it when I was in high school a canner exploded and they had 11 foot ceilings and the lid was stuck in the ceiling. There was glass and tomato everywhere. luckily we had gone to lunch and when we came back, that’s how the room was Unbelievable well, my friend who has a canner and has been doing this for many many years said I will help you with this. I got the canner down off the shelf on my husband did for me. I put it on the counter and I read the instructions and I thought boy what a stupid person I was This was probably the easiest thing to use in the world so my first attempt was beef stew it came out great tomorrow I’m going to do meatloaf and then I’m going to do beef, vegetable soup, chicken and spinach casserole type dish and a few others. I have venison. I’ve got rabbit you know but anyway so I’m very very happy with my canner. Yes I’m extremely happy with it. I love it. I can’t say enough about it enough of my rambling.

We're so happy you tried this. With our advanced technology, we have put many safety features in our canners over the years to help prevent such issues of which you speak. Please note, we do not have a safe tested recipe for meatloaf and is not recommended. The National Center for Home Food Preservation recommends no pastas or grains be canned, so as yummy as the casserole sounds, you will want to consider canning the chicken and then creating the casserole when you're ready to cook. Since you purchased this 5 years ago, you may need to change rubber parts soon and get your gauge tested for accuracy. This is recommended yearly for food safety. Call us, we would be happy to go more in depth with you about this. Call 1-800-877-0441. We are available weekdays, 8-4 CT.
I have had my canner a couple years now and have really started using it the last couple months. It’s been such a joy to make all my summer sauces and soups and actually free up freezer space. It has not only been a canner, but a large batch soup pot as well. Wish I had a second one, but I don’t have the space

Glad you like it! You are correct, this is a pressure cooker and pressure canner. Your food sounds wonderful. It's very close to soup season here in WI! Thank you for your review.
Other than the gasket this canner will last a lifetime. Works 100 percent perfect. You cannot go wrong with this pressure canner. You can spend more for a canner but it is not necessary.
Saved up for quite sometime to get this canner imported into Ireland, delighted to receive it today, looking forward to using it this harvest season. A weighted regulator as an option rather than additional purchase would be nice.
