Already a crack in the wood after just 6 months

My husband and I bought this table 6 months ago, and already there’s a crack in the top layer. I would consider it light usage—we just use the table for a few books next to the couch. Frustrated—since this company prides itself in quality wood and construction—that it didn’t even last a few years before falling apart

It’s ok. It’s strong and solid for sure. It’s a bit too textured for me. The “wire brush “ is definitely in evidence.
