Good Dispenser - No Replacement Blade

This is a wonderful dispenser, as are all Scotch's tape dispensers. However, they do not make a replacement blade insert for these models. So if this is something you'll use a lot as a teacher or librarian, don't bother! If it is for home use go ahead and grab one.

No replacement blade—so wasteful!

I’ve used these for years and see them all over the place in schools as the classic tape dispenser. I was SHOCKED to find out there are no replacement blades. I know they are cheap but this is so wasteful! Scotch should be embarrassed at how environmentally unfriendly these products are. In fact, I’d be willing to pay as much for a blade as I did the product knowing I was not wasting an entire dispenser every time I need a new blade. Won’t be purchasing any more of these. I’ll encourage my school district to do the same.

Replacement blade.

So disappointed that they do not have a replacement blade available. For a very busy medical office who uses these quite frequently the blade gets dull and all I need is a new sharp blade but can't get one. You have to buy a whole new dispenser which is a huge waste when it's not old. If I have to buy a new dispenser I will definately make sure replacement blades are available first.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

So much easier than an individual tape roll

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used to get individual tape dispensers, but when I started scrapbooking, I realized I was needing a roll of tape in my craft room, the kitchen and the office so it didn't make much sense to keep buying the individual rolls when I could get reusable dispensers and the refills of tape. I purchase the boxed refills in bulk so I never have to worry about running out of tape and the dispensers are less likely to "disappear" around the house than a single use dispenser. I even found dispensers in fashionable colors so I have a bright green one in my office...easy to find wherever it is in the house and fun to get away from "basic black."

SAVE YOUR MONEY

I recently purchased two of these dispensers, one for the office and one for home. They look great and were reasonably priced. I was so anxious to put them into service, I even broke open hand held dispensers to get the tape rolls for my new desktop models. Big Mistake. First of all they do not weigh enough to resist the effort required to cut the tape. Secondly the cutting blade is either recessed too far or just is not sharp enough to get the job done! Why has Scotch made these changes in what used to be a wonderful product? Are they afraid we will cut ourselves, or drop it and bruise a toe? Did their lawyers make them do it?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Scotch Desktop Tape Dispenser

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an excellent product. I purchase supplies for my office. I buy the Scotch desk tape dispenser and invisible and regular tape for my employees. I have bought this product for years. They last a long time. I still have mine and I have been 33 years. I got mine when they first came out. The edge stays sharpened and the tape breaks off easily. The wheel stays in place with the tape and does not slide. I would recommend this product to everyone who purchases office supplies.
