I have had other brands of French Roast before and found them to be too strong and bitter. That was before I owned a Keurig coffee maker. I like strong coffee so I decided to try this one in my Keurig with pleasing results.
Pros: Pleasing Roast, Attractive Mouthfeel/Body, Smooth Taste, Pleasing Aroma, Not Bitter

exquisite dark roast

This french roast had an amazing start. Full bodied with sweet undertones. Perfectly dark. I love a great dark roast. It had good flavor in the mouth. Rich. The finish was a little bitter/acidic but the darker roasts tend to be.
Pros: Pleasing Roast, Smooth Taste, Attractive Mouthfeel/Body, Pleasing Aroma
Cons: Unpleasant Aftertaste

Was excited to try this and was "bitterly" disappointed. French Roast is actually a favorite, and I could just not get rid of the heavy feeling it left on my tongue.

Cons: Unpleasant Flavor, Extremely bitter and sour, Unbalanced Or Sharp Acidity

When I was younger, I drank a lot of French Roast but have got away from dark roasts in recent years because they tend to just taste like ash. This one, however, lives up to the description of being "sweet and smoky" that was listed on the sample box. It has a nice, complex flavor that's both dark and a little sweet. I'll definitely be buying this one.

My DH got to this one before I did when the sample pack came. He loves his coffee strong and had not been a huge fan of the other varieties I've gotten. I give this one 5 stars based on his response. He was very impressed with this one.
