Definitely the upgrade I wanted!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The standout feature of this QLED is its Brightness. Unlike standard LED screens, the Q80D maintains incredible clarity even in rooms with significant natural light. This high peak brightness works in tandem with its Contrast capabilities. Thanks to its Direct Full Array dimming, you get deep, rich blacks that don't wash out, ensuring that shadows look realistic rather than gray. The Interface powered by Tizen OS remains one of the most intuitive on the market. It’s fast, responsive, and neatly organizes your favorite streaming apps and live TV in a single row. The inclusion of the Gaming Hub and seamless integration with smart home ecosystems makes navigating your entertainment effortless. Equipped with Quantum Dot technology, the Color volume is breathtaking. It produces over a billion shades that remain vibrant and accurate regardless of how bright the screen gets. When paired with its 4K Resolution, the level of detail is stunning. Every texture—from the fabric of a costume to the blades of grass on a sports field—is rendered with razor-sharp precision, making the viewing experience truly immersive.
The Samsung Q80D 55" is a versatile, high-performance TV that delivers a premium visual experience. With its punchy colors, impressive brightness, and sleek interface, it’s a fantastic upgrade for any home

I had a few Vizio's in the past the last 65 was that a Vizio, it was okay but nothing like my 65 Samsung QLED. Outstanding colors and sound. What's the saying? You get what you pay for! Only one regret wish I went larger. :)

Worst motherboard

The motherboard failed shortly after one year of use, just as the warranty period ended. For a premium television, this kind of critical hardware failure is unacceptable and extremely disappointing.
A product at this price point is expected to last far longer without major issues. The repair cost is high, and post-warranty support offers little assistance, leaving the customer to bear the full expense.
Based on this experience, I would not recommend Samsung QLED TVs and advise potential buyers to consider alternatives with stronger reliability and after-sales support.

Great TV

Awesome picture and great sound, Dolby atmos is amazing! I’ve had a 65 inch before what a huge difference Samsung is compared to my last TV. You can get away without a sound bar, I have. Samsung doubt bar with a subwoofer. Instant connect with the ARK HDMI connection. Samsung really is great!

Excellent picture.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My previous Samsung TV I believe had a great picture. It was 7 years old and was on 16 plus hours a day. I had an accident plugging in a ambience USB led light which shorted out the TV.
My new TV's picture is stunning. The remote control is difficult to operate. It uses pictures instead of words explaining the function. I get confused and have difficulty getting out of the menu.
But I do love my television .

Don't waste your money

This TV is not user friendly and trying to navigate through all the options is overwhelming. We haven't used it in months because we get mad every time we do. Complete waste of money.

Terrible rendering and contrast

I have been so disappointed with this TV. I am glad that I purchased the VIP warranty. Had to replace the main panel twice already in less then a year. It still has a difficult time rendering dark shadows. Watching darker shows like Wednesday or Black Rabbit is nearly impossible.

Response from Samsung USBy Samsung SpecialistNovember 11, 2025
jokersmith,

We appreciate your input on the picture quality of Samsung's Q80D TV. If the image you’re seeing doesn't meet your expectations, there are several adjustments you can make to the picture settings.

Go to Home > Menu > Settings > All Settings > Picture > Picture Mode
...and select the mode that best fits your usage:

1. Standard: Is the default mode suitable for general viewing environments
2. Dynamic: Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments
3. Eco: Provided to save energy
4. Movie: Suitable for watching TV or movies in a dark room
5. Filmmaker Mode: Provides source content just as the creators intended. If the image is defined as Filmmaker Mode, it’ll automatically switch to Filmmaker Mode while watching.

Intelligent Mode enables the TV to recognize and analyze the surroundings, noise, content, and your usage patterns to provide the best viewing experience. You can enable Intelligent Mode by going to Menu > Settings > All Settings > General & Privacy > Intelligent Mode Settings > Intelligent Mode.

If adjusting image settings does not improve your picture, please contact Samsung Customer Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8AM - 12AM EST, 7 days a week. Or visit us on the Samsung website and click on the ‘Support’ link for:

Run away from all Samsung

Stay away from this TV, and Samsung period.
The warranty is not worth the paper it is printed on.
I have had repair men to my house 4 times to fix an issue that is still not fixed. The latest is that the part is on backorder with no ETA. We are notified of this 60 minutes before they were due to arrive. Remember each visit requires you unmounting and remounting this TV. Samsung's response is "just wait". We bought 4 of these in our family. 3 of 4 have needed to be repaired and 2 have required multiple repairs. As someone who was all Samsung (TV, surround, washer, dryer, refrigerator) and completely invested in the Smart Things connectivity, I regret purchasing all of them.
