Best budget ANC out there

Just got these in today and they are awesome! They are extremely comfortable and easy to set up and use. The noise canceling works well enough with music on to drown out your surroundings and you can’t hear anybody talking with the volume a little lower than halfway. The sound is great and very balanced. Highly recommend!

Sound quality
The sound quality will likely be sufficient for many people, but not for me. The sound is a bit muddy. It sounds like I am listening to a really good stereo system with my ear pressed up against the other side of a closed door. These noise cancelling headphones do not have the sound quality of my first-generation Bose Quiet Comfort headphones.
Sidetone
The headphones are a little disappointing when being used as a headset for phone calls and Zoom calls. To fully explain the issue, I first have to describe the modes in which the headphones operate. There are three modes: 1) noise cancelling on all by itself, 2) noise cancelling on together with ambient sound on, 3) noise cancelling off and ambient sound off. When noise cancelling is on you hear very little of the ambient environment around you. (This is what you would expect active noise cancelling to do.) When noise cancelling is on together with ambient sounds on it is kind of like the opposite of noise cancelling because ambient sounds such as that air conditioner or heater are amplified; it is not very useful. When both noise cancelling and ambient sound are off you just have an expensive set of earmuffs with speakers inside. So, here’s the reason the headphones are a little disappointing when being used as a headset for phone calls and Zoom calls. The only way you really hear yourself speaking is to shout or turn on ambient sounds. But again, turning on ambient sounds is really just annoying. What these headphones lack when being used as a headset is sidetone. Sidetone, if you don’t know, is that little bit of your own voice you hear that is piped through to the earpiece when you are talking on a phone. It’s what gives you a hint as to how the people on the other end of the call are hearing you. Are you speaking too loudly or too softly? That’s what sidetone is supposed to tell you. Sadly, ambient sound is the closest these headphones come to giving you that kind of feedback.
Connect/disconnect
I have these headphones paired to both my Mac and my iPhone. Frequently when listening to music on my Mac the headphones will beep and announce, “disconnected” followed a second later by another beep and announce, “connected.” For some reason my iPhone temporarily disconnected. The same issue happens when I am using the headphones for a phone call on my iPhone. For some reason my Mac temporarily disconnects and the headphones beep and announce the event. And it happens over and over again. I am not inclined to blame Monoprice for the frequent disconnects, but where I do take issue is that the beep and announcement are both relatively loud and lengthy. I can miss important parts of a conversation while these headphones beep and announce the event. Perhaps Monoprice could soften and shorten the alert if not remove it entirely???
Padding
The headphones are comfortable for the most part. The earcups are very comfortable. The headband could use a little more padding.
Static
When the headphones arrived at my house, I immediately connected them to the charger and left them charging overnight. The next day four hours into use I heard an awful, scratchy, loud static sound coming out of the left earphone. It happened a few times that day as well as a couple times the next day. Fortunately, it hasn’t happened in 5 days since then, but it certainly does concern me that it even happened in the first place. If you are curious the static was very similar to a pair of wired headphones that have a loose connection due to a bad cable.

Decent sound with a small caveat

Like some of the others I switched from using the Sonic Solace, looking for an upgrade. The sound quality is pretty good, this is a bit lighter, and not uncomfortable to wear for a long period, even when wearing my glasses. I got this and the Sonic Solace mainly for the aptx compatibility, but noticed one key difference with this and the solace, this one doesn't seem to be able to support aptx-ll, I tested this first since my bluetooth receiver has a separate mode for each and I got no sound when LL was on and only worked once I switched to HD. So if you're listening to music this is fine, but if you're watching netflix, or any video online you'll encounter that slight audio lag, which to me is just annoying enough to be uncomfortable to watch, even though the lag isn't as much as some other headphones I've had it is still noticeable, which is a shame since the ANC is definitely alot better on this than the Solace and doesn't alter the source sound plus all the other neat features that seem like they'd be useful like the ambient noise mode and touch gesture to enable it talk to someone without having to take them off, I do prefer actual buttons since adjusting volume is a bit slow using the touch gesture since it goes by ticks, also when switching from each ANC mode it announces it somewhat louder and mutes what you were listening to for a second or two while it does that. So I am still debating on whether to keep this or not since I do try to use headphones at night when watching videos, but having to switch to another headset throughout the day doesn't feel too appealing. So apart from that it is comfortable to wear, the antennae seems to be a bit better since I can reach my kitchen and use the microwave with none to very little interference compared to the Solace which would stutter as soon as I reached my counter. It's not a bad pair of headphones just wish it would've supported aptx-LL as well.

Works as advertised. Sound is great over virtual meeting apps, including the built in mic. Comfortable for me.

Better than the Bose QC35II in my opinion

I replaced the Sonic Solace headphones with these as they are getting worn out from such heavy use. Bose QC35II were 199 this black friday so I went to the bose store to check em out. These headphones sound just as good if not better. When the noise cancelling is on the bass is boosted, but the sound doesn't muddy out real bad like the Sonic Solace did. The Bose also did the same thing. Seems common when noise cancelling is on but I don't usually listen with ANC on. I really bought these for music/phone calls while working. Well worth the price. Don't pay the name tax. Anyone paying 350-400 for headphones is getting ripped off. These meet that quality at a much lower price point.

Noise cancelling is superb. Sound quality is decent. There are definitely better headsets out there with equal ANC and better sound quality but I'd say this is more or less worth the price
