Defective or problematic? Eitherway these sound awful.

I wanted to get some very high quality listening experiences so I decided to purchase higher end stuff, and in that mix I wanted some planar magnetic headphones. I was very disappointed. These sound absolutely awful in a dierct headphone jack situation. They sound like the garbage PC desk speakers from old time prebuild computer days. The case is nice, the build is nice, they look nice, and the adjustability is awesome for smaller heads and comfort. But none of that matters when they sound so bad out of the box. Even after testing them all day and into the night, they sound awful compared to even my skullcandy slyr. These will not work for any direct listening situation.
I would love to see this style and features with normal 50m drivers. This design is fantastic for wearability.

Very Good For The Bucks

I was very skeptical when i purchased these cans that are very cheap for planars. Pleased so far with their Very smooth sound with tight bass. Bass is not over blown but clear and tight. Picks up very low bass notes nicely. Highs and mids detailed and sweet. I am able to drive them fairly well with my Android phone. Better sound with headphone output from both of my 2 stereo preamps. I will be purchasing a headphone amp and dac which should improve things even more. Build quality seems fine with detachable cable. SURPRISINGLY Comfortable to wear.

They look good, and fit really well. Not too heavy, and don’t give me a headache if I wear them for hours. The sound quality is great. The audio cable is lightweight, sturdy, and detachable. I’m really happy with these headphones and have no complaints.

Planar Magnetic Consistency.

I would recommend this product for people that appreciate Audiophile headphones. The M565C has prominent mids and the bass is planar bass that is consistent but blends in with everything else. Not a fuller, driving bass sound that sticks out in the mix. Also, NOT a v shaped sound signature. Some may think that planar magnetic sound, and the driver tuning in the M565C, becomes boring and bland after awhile. Others will be impressed by the large Soundstage and details in the overall sound.
The sound of the M565C is beautiful, fuller in the balance, brighter with treble sparkle, and emotionally moving. Bass is fast planar bass that blends in. The build is excellent as are the wire and connectors. It is a very dark headphone including the wood cups. In my opinion, borderline portable with a squared off metal frame. Visually, everything blends with a darker theme.
There was some minor sibilance, hot treble in less than stellar or older recordings. Again, an Audiophile headphone that will not gloss over flaws in the music source. KNOW WHAT YOU ARE PURCHASING. In this case, price is not an indication of headphone style and sound signature.

Above and beyond what I expected. Fits comfortably even with my head that is usually too big for many headphones.

Very happy with the McustomertM565C. Was looking for a wood closed back at a reasonable price. . Beautiful design- industrial chic I call it. Sound is solid and balanced. Bass is there, just not dominating. Mid and high present nice warm sounds. I leave both cables plugged in. Most people have access to a label maker. I printed an R and L , no problem whatsoever. I have six quality headphones, all good in their own way, but the M565C has quickly become a favorite.

Uncomfortable, brittle piece of disappointment

Sound is fine. It's adequate. What isn't is everything else.
The metal brace is ugly. Whenever I put these on I genuinely feel self-conscious. The wooden cans are also stained so dark you can barely at all tell the grain of the wood. Don't believe the photographs, they make this pair look far more attractive than the real thing ever could be.
The ear pads are uncomfortable. The ear hole is narrow and causes abject discomfort if worn over a workday by anyone with even average sized ears. Replacing the ear pads is also nigh-impossible because no available replacements support the velcro fastening system they've come up with for this pair and this pair only.
The input connectors on the cans are brittle, and failed within two months. For the listener on the go this is unacceptable. I've owned a Sennheiser HD 558 pair for 8 years, it's been through much worse and the only wear it shows is the faded logos on the outside.
I've contacted support and they have not come back to me in a month. I am mailing these back tomorrow, and upon arrival they will become Monoprice's problem.
