Bought it a month ago and problems - the little plastic "bumpers" at the bottom of the bottom part came loose and had to re-insert them which shouldn't be necessary - plus the seal between the "cup" and "blade" is kind of loose and you need to be careful to make sure you give it an extra twist. Works fine but these little problems should not happen. This is our fourth device - they only last about a year.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

DO NOT BUY THE NUTRIBULLET!! I have had mine for one year now, it has been problematic the entire time. Three months in I had to have the blade replaced, due to the rubber part that was already starting to disintegrate. Both cups have dramatically discoloured and the little tabs have cracked off. The motor frequently produces a strange smell. NOT RECOMMENDED!

I use the "bullet" a couple times a day mostly for protein shakes with fruit predominantly berries. I run the blender perhaps 10 seconds and everything is mixed and fruit reduced to liquid and finely chopped pieces of fruit skin. Works amazing.
