I purchase luba Mini back in may this 2026, ExtremelyGreat Product impressed with how it operates. BUT Would like to see following improvements ; 1) RTK powered by Solar panel 2) Increase font in APP, 3) Add solar panel to charge Mower as it is operating , thus extending battery time.

It has been operating flawlessly since day one - having only had to reposition it a couple times overall when the GPS localization strayed a little bit. The recentering function for the bay station worked perfectly. It has been keeping my lawn in great shape. Would recommend.

I purchased a Luba 3 – 1500H lawnmower, about two months ago, and have been using it two to three times a week since that time. There is no place yet on Mammotion’s site to leave reviews on the new Luba 3, so Mammotion said to simply leave it in the Luba 2 Section. Mammotion sent me an email saying they would send me some new blades if I submitted a review, so here is my review:
My background is in engineering, and generally I am less concerned about good reviews, than I am about problem reviews, and in this case, I am surprised, or rather shocked to find out that this robot lawnmower just-plain-works. To my complete surprise, I have had no significant problems at all, so the rest of my review is all about the quirks that I have discovered with the new robot, and not about any major flaws, because I have not found any.
My lawn is quite small, flat, irregularly shaped, and about 57 square meters for the front yard, and 65 square meters for the back yard. I have not done any mowing of the back yard yet with the robot, only the front yard, which takes the robot about 37 minutes to do. I run the mower at less than one quarter of its top travelling speed, and the blades at medium rotation speed, and the mow height at its lowest, at 55mm. I believe it would be better for the grass if I had a higher mower height, but I like the look of short grass, and as long as the mid-summer sun doesn’t burn it, I will stick with shorter. It has taken a little while, but I think the front lawn is looking better than it has in the past few years, partially due to the Luba 3, and partially due to me spending more time sprucing it up, which I usually do when the robot is mowing.
I really struggled a lot with what type of Luba 3 to buy, the high version for taller grass, or the low version for shorter grass, as my grass seems to be right in the middle. In the end I choose the high version, and I think I probably made the right choice. I do not yet know the technical reasons for the difference in the lawn mowers, but I believe it may be possible to insert a small 3D printed disk on each large cutting disk on my high version, to lower the cutting blades down if I want to (I wish Mammotion would make one available to buy). The only problem would be, that the software would not know this and my blade height (as reported by the software) would be incorrect. It would be nice if Mammotion could modify their software, so that I could enter in a blade correction value, if I were to do this.
Even though the Luba 3 is referred to as a lawnmower, I think it actually works best as a lawn shaver, ie: cutting a very small amount of grass shavings (not collecting them in a bag, but just dropping them back on the lawn, which you don’t even notice) and cutting the lawn more often. I believe this is also better for the lawn.
I 3D Printed a blade replacement holder, as well as a Top Lidar Cover (for Lidar protection when I am cleaning the robot and set it upside down), and one day I accidently left the cover on, so the Lidar was completely useless, but, surprisingly, the robot started mowing the lawn with no problem – I guess Net-RTK GPS, and Vision Only, on that day was good enough). On another day, I stopped the robot half way through the mow, and it alerted me that it could not find its way home. This was puzzling, as I would have expected the Lidar to take over. I had to drive it radio-control-style 15 feet forward, then it had no problem at all. And, on another day, I cut out about a one square foot area of my lawn (4 inches deep) that wasn’t growing well, and forgot about the robot, it drove right into this drop-off, and shuffled around a little bit till it got itself out. Also, right next to one of my shrubs, I have decorative inch and half rock, the same level as my lawn. It almost got stuck one day spinning back and forth on the rock, which is loose and not packed in, but it did get out. I then mixed in cement powder with the rock to stiffen this area up, but the next mow, it avoided this area by about eight inches, then the following time, four inches, the third time it went back to normal, so it knew it was having problems, and avoided this area for the next two mows. This was fairly impressive. I would still recommend putting a border of 8-12 inches around obstacles, such as trees, and shrubs to reduce the likelihood of the robot getting stuck around them.
One thing I have noticed (I never paid attention before), is that my grass grows unevenly; some areas grow quicker than others. So, the benefit of mowing more often is that taller grass always gets cut, rather than the robot simply pushing down on the tall grass, which can happen. In addition, sometimes, on the mowing map on my phones screen, it shows small areas that are not mowed, when in fact they ARE mowed, so that is a little strange.
It would have been nice for the software to automatically mow my lawn in the opposite direction, every second mow, as I think this would avoid creating a path in the lawn, which hasn’t happened yet, but I could see it happening, and it could also reduce pushing down taller grass. This, however, can be easily accomplished by creating another area, that is exactly the same as the first area, where you do your perimeter mow in the opposite direction for the second area, and have the robot alternate between these two areas (which are actually the same area) every few days, and this seems to work.
I have also found that the robot is very sensitive to having its dock moved. If you move the dock, in all likely hood, you will have to re-run all the perimeters of all your areas. However, you can pick up the dock and move it to another location, as long as you put it back to its original location just before you mow. I haven’t been able to find out why it is so sensitive to having its dock moved. It’s no big deal, as long as you are aware of this, and although the manual mentions this, it is not emphasized at all, but it is significant.
I have also tried a few tests (some by accident) to see how the robot reacts to unexpected things. If you just stand in front of it, it will pause, and slowly go around you, and then if you get off the lawn, on its next pass it will go right over the area that it missed, which pretty cool. It also has a bumper sensor on the front as a backup to its front vision, but you have to be careful, as when it backs up right next to a shrub, the front bumper can catch on its back side. It’s not really a problem though, as the robot will just shuffle back and forth until it gets unstuck, kinda funny to watch.
There are many complaints in chat groups of people having problems after a software update. And my solution is, I do not update the software. So, I have had no problems at all. Thankfully, Mammotion gives you the option of turning off automatic updates. I think an even better solution would be for them to include both a stable and experimental software update channel, so for those who don’t want the latest updates immediately (but still want updates), they can be on the stable channel, and for those who want to tinker, they can choose the experimental channel. Eventually, I will go for an update, but probably next spring, when I have the time to tinker, and re-program the mowing areas.
Concerning the robots video camera, I kept getting an error message, and the camera feed on the front of the robot, which can be displayed on my phone was very choppy. No-where in the manual (that I could find) did it say that the robot could only communicate on the 2.5 Ghz band, and NOT the 5 Ghz band. This is not a problem, as I have both, and actually the 2.5 Ghz band has farther range anyway, and covers my entire front and back yards, but it took me a while to figure out what the problem was. Once I switched the Luba 3 to the 2.5 Ghz band, the camera was smooth and clear.
Mammotion’s mowing software for my Android phone is very polished, and quite impressive, and works pretty well, but it would be helpful if Mammotion were able to make the above software improvements. It would also be nice if they were to make available for purchase, a few accessory items, such as a full sized Dog House, a Blade Replacement Holder, a Blade Lowering Disk, a Lidar Cover, an Accessory Bag, an automatic Fence Doggy Door, and a Bag to store the lawnmower and docking station in for the winter, as it would have saved me a lot of time by not having to source these separately, but these are all minor gripes. The main thing is, how well does the robot actually work, and it works pretty well.
In summary, the Luba 3 is an impressive lawnmower, which, by the way, has also won several awards, and I am really glad I bought it, but it does have some minor quirks, which are more often than not, good for a short little laugh.
